High Seas Trader

High Seas Trader puts you in the shoes of an 18/19th century trader, when Britain had colonies in India and the American colonies were free. You have a ship, few men, a map of Western Europe and 5000 cash. Gradually you have to recruit sailors, buy better ships, get maps and trade! HST isn’t just about trading. You have to navigate, fight off pirates, kill enemies of your country and avoid hostile cities.

Le genre "gestion marchande" n'est pas nouveau, mais High Seas relève le défi avec brio. Si vous aimez les simulation économiques et que vous voulez vous plonger dans une ambiance originale, High Seas vous attend toutes voiles gonflées.

Take to the High Seas (obviously) in this latest installment in the growing "buy low, sell high" simulations genre.

Snyggt gjort, bra ljud och grafik och som sagt mycket lätt att hantera - instruktionsboken behövs knappt. Men ändå kommer nog High Seas Trader att segla förbi ganska obemärkt. Det är inget spel som är tillräckligt fängslande för att bli beroendeframkallande. Kul att spela en stund, men när du stängt av datorn har du redan glömt det.

High Seas Trader ist daher nichts weiter als eine bedingt brauchbare 1:1 Kopie, künstlich gestreckt mit überflüssen und auf die Dauer nervigen Mätzchen, die nur in Form des Verpackungsaufdrucks Eindruck schinen. Besonders tragisch: Das optisch, akustisch und spieltechnisch klar bessere Produkt ist seit 1993 bereits auf dem Markt und nennt sich Pirates! GOLD. (-- Petra Maueröder)

Too bad all the towns look alike. Navigation is handled fairly well and with the interesting character and trading aspects, the game could have been a yacht instead of a floundering dingy caused by poorly designed combat and sailing segments. Unfortunately, in High Seas Trader, this one significant piece of debris is damaging to the point of berthing this one in drydock and wishing for an overhaul. That's really too bad since there is a really good game lurking just beneath the surface.

Was hätte man nicht alles aus der 3D-Idee machen können: Heiße Seegefechte mit schreienden Matrosen und zerreißenden Segeln, spannende Echtzeit-Degenduelle und manuelles Ausrichten der Kanonen. Impressions schludert stattdessen eine todlangweilige Handelssimulation mit herzerweichend schlechter 3D-Grafik und eintöniger Herumschipperei zusammen.
