Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis

It may seem ridiculous to give a 17-year-old PC game a perfect score, but Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis succeeded on so many levels. It bested other games in the same genre by having multiple playthroughs and a ton of replay value, and was superior to most licensed games in that it was actually worthy of the Indiana Jones name. Most importantly, the game holds up after all these years, and both new and old fans of the archaeologist could find this game enjoyable.

Obra maestra casi indiscutida, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis muestra lo que era capaz de hacer el muy profesional equipo de Lucasarts cuando cuidaban con mimo sus productos, quedando muy por encima de cualquier otra aventura que se realizase al mismo tiempo, tanto en cuestiones de guión como técnicas y de diseño de la aventura, quedándose como un canon de aventura muchas veces imitado (The Dig, Riddle of Master Lu, Guilty) pero aquí llevado a la perfección, y una aventura que no ha perdido interés en la más de una década que separa su lanzamiento. Imprescindible, y justificadamente idolatrada.

The game uses a typical point-and-click interface, which has proven itself to be very intuitive. It's graphical design was top-of-the-line at the time of production - plenty of colors, "realistic" scenery and some beautiful animations decorate this masterpiece.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis ist genial. Trotz einiger kleiner Mängel, wie die Steuerung von Ballon und U-Boot stimmt hier von der Atmosphäre über das Gameplay bis hin zur gelungenen Story einfach alles. Dass auch noch 3 verschiedene Spielmöglichkeiten geboten werden, ist schon fast zu viel des Guten. Auf jeden Fall ist das Spiel absolute Pflicht für jeden, der auch nur ein klein wenig für Adventures übrig hat.

If you haven't played Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, you are missing out on a piece of adventure gaming history. With multiple paths to complete the game, a plot better than any of the movies, and some of the best puzzles in the whole genre, The Fate of Atlantis stands out as an example of how an adventure game should be made.

Fate of Atlantis is another excellent adventure from LucasArts and is eminently enjoyable. After playing all of the earlier LucasArts' titles I initially found the limited number of verbs available in this game a little disconcerting, but I soon got used to it. (Of course, nowadays we have the joys of 'smart' cursors!) There are lots of puzzles throughout, more than enough to keep the avid adventurer happy. And best of all it captures the essence of the character of Indiana Jones. If you haven't played it yet have a look, you won't be disappointed.

Lucasfilm hat gegenüber Monkey Island 2 noch eins draufgesetzt. Humor gibt's in rauen Mengen, dieser ist jedoch so hintergründig, daß er mit dem teilweise derben Klamauk aus Monkey Island 2 nichts mehr gemein hat. Dank traumhafter Komplexität und im Gegensatz zu Monkey Island 2 wirklich logischen, nach einigem Überlegen garantiert lösbaren Rätseln ist Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis das für mich beste Lucasfilm-Adventure. Traumhafte Grafik und unzählige Verzweigungen in der Handlung festigen meine Meinung. Lediglich das Anklicken von pixelkleinen Gegenständen macht ab und zu Probleme - darüber sieht man angesichts von Qualität und Quantität jedoch gerne hinweg.

A día de hoy es imposible sentar cátedra sobre cuál de las aventuras gráficas de LucasArts destaca por encima de las demás. Unos preferirán el humor de Monkey Island, otros las gamberradas de Sam & Max y otros el ambiente rockero de Full Throttle, pero podemos decir con seguridad que Indiana Jones & the Fate of Atlantis es la más completa y duradera del grupo. Un guión que perfectamente podría ser de una de las películas, un apartado técnico sobresaliente y una selección de situaciones variada y desafiante son los culpables de que siga grabado en la memoria de los veteranos.

I’ve been looking forward to reviewing this game. I already reviewed one of my top 10 games ever in Sensible World of Soccer, so with FoA being another in my prestigious list, it’s with great pleasure that I put fingers to keys for this. What I like most about my top 10 list is that I have classics sat next to modern titles, so if you were to ask me if I would rather take FoA or Call of Duty 4, I would be tearing my hair out trying to decide. That’s what makes FoA so endearing, that it has stood the test of time and is such a quality title that it plays better than a lot of titles today. I like to polish the game off every couple of years to go down a different path from last time, try to complete puzzles I’ve forgotten the solutions to, and relive the wonderful story all over again. For me, it's the best LucasArts has to offer and one of the greatest games ever made.

Tunnelma ja jopa jännitys ovat sitä luokkaa, että voisi luulla katselevansa uuden Indy-elokuvan tekoa aitiopaikalta Spielbergin vierestä. Koko peli on Täyttä Seikkailua, aina Atlantiksen kohtaloa myöten. Indiana Joneshan on tunnetusti muinaisaarteiden viikatemies.

With the help of archaeologist-come-psychic and ex-flame Sophia Hapgood, Jones attempts to foil the Nazi’s diabolical plans, save the world, and get the girl…again.

Thrilling, beautiful to look at and totally absorbing. If you missed this game the first time around don't let it slip through your fingers now it's going cheap.

Indiana Jones and Fate of Atlantis to naprawdę produkcja, w którą warto zagrać z wielu powodów. Kiedy będziecie chcieli kiedyś pograć w coś dobrego, w czym potrzeba więcej umysłu niż sprawnych palców, postarajcie się o tę grę, chociaż wiem, że będzie baaaardzo trudno.

Indiana jones är ett i alla avseenden nästan perfekt spel, med utmärkt manus, tjusig grafik, fantastiskt ljud och ett superenkelt användargränssnitt. Det enda jag reagerat på är att svårigheten är lägre än i till exempel Monkey Island 2.

What makes a computer game a classic? To me, it must be a game that stands the test of time and technology. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is such a game. Although the game is released back in 1992, it is still regarded by many critics as among the best adventure games ever made. This game is made at a time before the graphics revolution overtakes the world of PC gaming by storm. As such, you shall not find the high resolution, jaw dropping SVGA graphics but only 256 color VGA graphics that are state of the art for its time. However, what this game lacks in its looks is more than made up for by its creativity.
