Inferno

D.I.D ei sortunut kopioimaan valmiita menestysreseptejä, vaan se loi pelin, joka toimii kaikilla sektoreilla omilla ansioillaan. Pelimaailman syvyys, tehtävien monipuolisuus ja liki täydellinen toteutus nostavat Infernon klassikkopelien kymmenenteen taivaaseen, missä aika ja paikka lakkaavat olemasta merkityksettöminä.

Als T.F.X. vor genau einem Jahr erschien, war die Polygontechnik von den meisten Simulationsherstellern längst abgeschrieben. Daß D.I.D. trotzdem daran festhielt, hat einen einfachgen Grund: gute Grafik, gepaart mit hoher Geschwindigkeit, findet man bei anderen Herstellern längst nicht mehr.

Die Cut Scenes sind eher häßlich geraten und wiederholen sich - bis auf den Text - häufig. Flügelpiloten oder verschiedene steuerbare Raumschiffe sind ebenfalls Fehlanzeige. Die Grafik hingegen ist bereits auf 386ern sehr schnell und sorgt für hektische Daueraction. Als reines Ballerspiel betrachtet, kann Inferno begeistern.

Inferno features amazing game speed (especially on a Pentium) that will satisfy the 386 users who can not play with Wing Commander 3 for example. If the game had been released one or two years ago, Inferno would have been a great success, but it does not match up with today's quality games.

Impressive graphics and outstanding music. Complex keyboard commands almost make a programmable controller a necessity. If you're itching for something new, Inferno's well worth the trouble.

And while Inferno is essentially Wind Commander without the charm, it does have far better 3D effects, a widely variable mission plan and wicked fast gameplay. Oh, and a foil-enhanced box.

Inferno är en stor och välpaketerad rymdstridssimulator som bygger på en god idé, men själva simulatorn är inte tillräckligt engagerande för att hålla intresset vid liv någon längre tid.
