Abandonia
During the game, you will team up with different characters in your quest to kill Scotia. Gameplay is mouse-based, which really makes the interface easy to use. The game’s graphics are characteristic of Westwood - hand-drawn and very beautiful. It is clear that when the team set out to make another RPG (after Eye Of The Beholder), they were aiming to create a masterpiece. The game has speech and sound effects included. King Richard is voiced by Patrick Stewart, who is simply marvelous. The rating of 5 needs no further justification.

Quandary
Apart from the very important reason that it is quite an enjoyable game, we have chosen Lands of Lore for several reasons. Firstly, it is another title where the sequel is almost upon us, so if you are a Role-Playing fan and haven't sampled this one yet, it is the perfect time to do so. Secondly, it has recently been re-released and this new release is not only at a budget price (it is included in the Virgin White Label series) but it has also been revamped with the inclusion of a new soundtrack with very respectable voices added.

If you're an RPG addict, and you really liked the Eye Of The Beholder games, you'll love this. It's got lots to bite on, and is one of those programs which makes you sit back and take a good deal of pleasure in how far computer entertainment has come in such a short time.

Edge
Lands Of Lore does not break any new ground, but for an RPG you would be hard pressed to do better.

Just Adventure
I know LOL isn't representative of all RPG games, and I suspect that character building and development in later RPG titles becomes much more complex and interesting than the three simple qualities used in LOL. But this game did whet my appetite to learn more about this ever-popular genre. I recommend it to my adventurous friends.

Lands of Lore is big, solid and enjoyable, and so long as you don't expect too much in the way of originality, you'll have fun with it.

The Good Old Days
And also, like most dungeon cleaning games, it gets repetitive, as the characters and game barely change from beginning to end. Yes, there are some levels to raise (as the RPG watermark seems to demand), but they won’t help you much. And the biggest thing, after all this, I feel like I said nothing. You know why? Because this game adds nothing to the genre, but they knew it and just made a fun one.
