If you liked Mechwarrior 2 then this game is a must buy! Just playing with the new mechs, weapons, and environments is lots of fun and unlike many expansion packs, this is a full game with lots of missions to play! Once again, Mechwarrior 2 earns a 5 star rating.

MECHWARRIOR FANS REJOICE!!! Ghost Bear's legacy is here and ready for action. For those of you who enjoyed playing MechWarrior II, and simply couldn't get enough, the expansion pack is what you've been waiting for. It offers twelve new missions to play, and some very interesting improvements in the game itself.
Power Play

Other than this technical nit-picking, my only other concern is one of length. The game contains the same combat simulator/instant action as the original, but I'm afraid rabid MechWarriors will exhaust the single career track rather quickly. Those hoping for a scenario-builder or the much-promised network package will have to keep waiting. This being said, GHOST BEAR'S LEGACY is still a damn good expansion package, one that actually fleshes out the Battletech universe for computer gamers, rather than just delivering “more of the same.” The Bear's bellowing roar is worthy to take its place with the Falcon's angry cry and the Wolf's noble howl.
High Score
The only gripes I have about Ghost Bear's Legacy are the graphics and mission difficulties. The graphics are wonderful, however, I have a 486 DX4-100 with 12 megs of ram, and it is still kind of jerky at times, even on the lowest resolution. This makes those with really kickin' systems the only ones who can really get this game to move like it should, which is kind of a shame, because Mechwarrior 2 was taxing enough. In addition, there are a few missions which are just next to impossible to finish. There should always be some hard missions, but there are one or two that take it to an extreme, and get extraordinarily frustrating. But, other than those, I found all of the rest of the missions to be fun, exciting and very playable.

Ghost Bear's Legacy is a must-have for all proud MW2 owners. Its street price is around $25-30, and for what it delivers it's a steal. The more I play it, the more I see it as the other half of MW2 that I always wanted. I strongly feel that there hasn't been an expansion or add-on pack as worthwhile as GBL since the Marine Fighters add-on for USNF. Like MF, it is more of a game in itself than just an expansion pack. The only downside to GBL is the minor problem with the Diamond 2001 PCI video card (ARK2000 chipset) and running GBL in WIN95, plus you cannot use ANY of the GBL mechs in WIN95s NETMECH.If you've finished MW2 and feel you need a new challenge with all the elements that made Mech2 such a success, don't hesitate to run out (really fast) and get this product.
Ghost Bear Legacy is a good package, not a great one. There are only twelve missions, and gamers would have benefited greatly from a mission editor. Still, it proves there's some kick left in the old Mech 2, and if you finished the original missions you'll probably want to check it out.
