Mine Bombers is one of the most successful Finnish shareware titles. Even 5 years after the release of the game the developers received many registering applications by mail every week from both Finland and abroad. In 2003 the total of registered users was already "in the thousands" according to the developers as they had lost the count after a few thousand applications. The developers have stored all registering forms they've received along the years in cardboard boxes.
The overwhelming success of Mine Bombers was one of the reasons the organizers of DBTL music festival in Turku, Finland asked the team to develop a simple game as an advertisement for the festival.
