The game does have a fork in it, where you are able to travel one of two paths depending on actions you did or did not take earlier in the game. It doesn't exactly up the replay value, but it does give you some change of pace. The puzzles range from very simple to somewhat difficult. You cannot die in the game, and I have always liked that in an adventure. Overall, the game is a lot of fun, and if you don't mind the game being a little on the short side, I recommend this game highly. Bottom Line: A lot of fun, a lot of very well-done humour, very good graphics, and well-done voice acting. A little short, but still worth the price of admission.

The sound and graphics were a real treat! The gamescreen is cartoon-ish and hysterically funny in parts. When you solve a puzzle, your rewarded with a movie cut-scene that is vivid and colorful. Just what you need when Kent is running out of charm.

In conclusion, I have to say I have enjoyed playing Normality. I have spent about a week hooked to this game. Normality is a game that can be as entertaining as it can be frustrating. Despite its flaws, it is a great game with an unique premise that many gamers will enjoy.

In conclusion, this game might be considered a flawed masterpiece. It has some definite pluses but one great big minus. I did enjoy the style, gameplay, and story, but I would recommend that if you play it, you turn off the volume and turn on the subtitles (it does have that option—dummy me for not using it early in the game).

I'll have to admit that when I first saw the ads for Normality, I was a little put off: making the hero of an adventure game a "grunge-head" seemed like just a clever marketing ploy aimed at grabbing the 17-25 market share. Well, maybe it is a clever marketing ploy, but I couldn't care less. Because the truth is that Normality's a very good adventure game--and, surprisingly enough, it was not designed for novice adventurers. Some of the puzzles here are definite hair-pullers even for veteran gamers, though part of that difficulty can be laid at the feet of some extremely sublime hints and clues. In other words, there's a logical reason for the things you do, but whose logic and how it was arrived at is subject to debate.

Although the dude-speak becomes tiring, and the puzzles are not all that ingenious, Normality is still a good bet for traditional adventure lovers. None of that there newfangled full-motion video (although motion capture was used for the rendered cut scenes) only a lark with Kent who insists early on at a job interview, "Yes! I'd like to use furniture on a daily basis!" There can't be any better qualification than that.

Although Normality has its good qualities, I can't give it more than a C due to its annoyance level. Kent's surfer-dood speech was funny at first, but quickly became irritating. It's something you're subjected to throughout the game and it detracted significantly from my enjoyment of the game. The elevator music didn't help either. It's probably impossible to give Normality a grade everyone will agree with. I'm sure some people won't mind the speech and music, while others will hate it even worse than I did.

Aside from the Feldman debacle, I have to admit that, in the end, I enjoyed Normality, which falls squarely into the realm of the “good but not great.” It’s not a memorable adventure, and I’ll likely have forgotten my exploits in Neutropolis not long from now, but it ultimately succeeds insofar as providing me a few hours of much-needed entertainment. And thus I shelve it in my “light beer” category of games that, while not nearly as filling or full-flavored as a good porter or ale, still taste perfectly good after a long day at the office. Fortunately, though, playing Normality didn’t make me go to the restroom every five minutes.
