Tex awakens with his head "full of molasses", and he appears to have been out for at least 18 hours. Fortunately, he will survive and be able to start snooping through Malloy's room.
When you gain control, you see some boxes on the floor in front of you. Open the top one on the far left and take the book labeled "Airport of the Gods". Go to the nightstand and get the letter. Examine it to learn that to get away from danger, Malloy was offered to stay at a cabin belonging to David Wright, and the cabin gets added to your travel map. Go over to the nightstand, open its nightstand, and get the pawn ticket. Go to the bed and get the scarf. Examine it to find out that it smells of perfume.
Now move the cushion on the chair and get the photo. Examine it to see an image of Malloy and llama. Go over to the drafting table. Open the drawer and get the ACME business card. Close the drawer and open the next drawer down. Get and examine the envelope to pull out the untranslated letter. Examine the untranslated letter as well. Open the fourth drawer and get the photograph. Examine it to find that it is a photo of Regan when she was three years old. You're done searching the apartment, so leave. Tex realizes that he missed his date with Chelsee, and that she is going to be furious at him for standing her up.
Leave the Ritz and cross the street to Rook's Pawnshop. After Rook gives you an unpleasant welcome, a list of choices appear. If you are playing Path A, choose A or B to be awarded one good guy point. Otherwise, select any response until Rook asks for money that Tex owns, then pay Rook $300 to get your Offer/Ask About list. Offer Rook the pawn ticket, and pay $250 to get the black dagger. Leave the conversation and exit to the street. Head toward the ACME Warehouse. There is an open manhole next to it. Walk to it, and when the game asks you if you want to climb the ladder, select Yes.
There are boxes scattered throughout the tunnels, and one that is sitting out of the water on the right side. Open it and get the chisel. Go forward to the end, and turn left at the intersection. Go to the end and open the box sitting out of the water on the left. Move the box and get the money belt. Examine the belt to add $300 to your cash total. Climb the ladder to exit the sewer, then head for the Brew & Stew.
Louie looks the same since the las time you saw him. Have a conversation with him until you get your Offer/Ask About list. Pay Louis $200 (one good guy point is awarded). Ask Louis about the scarf. Tex learns that the scarf belongs to a young blond woman who comes to the Brew & Stew with someone else. Ask about Young Blond Woman to learn that her name is Emily. Ask about Newspaper photo of Malloy. When you are done with the questions, offer Louie the untranslated letter. Louie tells Tex that the letter is written in Yucatec, which he cannot interpret. He refers you to Clint, who operates the Cocoa Cabana. Leave the conversation to arrive back on the street.
Do you remember where you needed to go to get to Coit Tower in UAKM? Well, Clint's Cocoa Cabana is there. When Clint welcomes you, follow any conversation path until you get you Offer/Ask About list. (If you're playing Path A, you might want to open the conversation by choosing C: Give Clint Some Business.) Offer Clint the untranslated letter in inventory. Clint says that he cannot read it, and when you are done with that, ask about Emily and Gus Leach. Both Emily and Leach were eating here, and the last time that Leach was present, he left a key behind. Ask about the key to receive it.
Leave the conversation to return to the street. Walk toward the Fuchsia Flamingo, but instead of going throughout the turning doors, go around to the rear and walk toward the delivery gate. Open the door and enter the alley. Walk around until you see a door labeled Employees Only and use the key to unlock the door. Open the door and enter.
Leach is playing the piano when Tex enters. Leach is not happy to see him and asks Tex how he got in the Fuchsia Flamingo. You have to decide whether you want to get onto Path C, or stay on Path A or B.
Path A/B: Give Leach the key, and then use any conversation path.
Path C: Choose responses B, C, C to be downright rude to Leach, ruining any chances of a relationship.
Leach smells something on you. It's that scarf that you are carrying. Give it to Leach and Tex will end up back in the alley, with a warning not to enter the Flamingo again. Open up your travel map and head to Chelsee's apartment.
Tex knocks on Chelsee's apartment door, and she answers. Sure enough, she is furious that you stood her up. Again, this is another situation where you must decide whether you want to stay on Paths A or C. If you are already on B, the choices that you will make will become irrelevant.
Path A: Use the following conversation path: B, A, B, C. When Tex asks Chelsee for a drink at the Flamingo, she backs out and stays in her apartment for the night. Tex goes to the Flamingo by himself, where he watches Emily perform on stage. He notes that he should question her about Malloy.
Path B: When Tex asks Chelsee for a drink at the Flamingo, she accepts. They head down there and watch Emily perform on stage. Tex notes that he should question her about Malloy. Chelsee thinks that Tex is using her to get inside the Flamingo in relation to his case. Chelsee then walks out on Tex.
Path C: Use the following conversation path: C, C, A, C. When Tex asks Chelsee for a drink at the Flamingo, she accepts. The situation is the same as on Path B, but we actually see Chelsee walk out of the Flamingo, leaving Tex by himself. Also, Tex drinks himself into oblivion after losing an opportunity to go out to dinner with Chelsee. Tex's Lament is heard in the background.
The cut-scenes end with Tex going up to Emily's room at the Flamingo, where she tells Tex that somebody is stalking her. After Emily gives him a note that has been ripped to shreds, Leach comes in and tells Tex to take a hike.
