Panzer General on yksi niistä harvoista strategiapeleistä, jotka ovat sekä raskaan sarjan aivobodaajan että kadunmiehen mieleen. SSI loi tosi klassikon ja kirsikkana kakussa on aidosti HYVÄ tekoäly. Tietokone on väkevä vastustaja joka osaa pistää pelaajan tosi liemeen.

A beautiful, superbly balanced, hyper-addictive war game. May be deemed too populist by the crustier grognards. The best wargame since Empire--and we certainly can't think of any higher praise for a game.

To sum up, if you would like to spend many hours conquering Europe of World War II piece by piece, by ground, sea, and air, then rush out to buy your copy of "Panzer General".

Selten kam ein Hersteller auf die Idee, es könnte jemand daran interessiert sein, den Deutschen - und sei es auch in einer Simulation - im Zweiten Weltkrieg die Weltherrschaft zu Füßen zu legen. Moralisch betrachtet wirft auch eine unwirkliche Veränderung der Geschichte in diesem Fall Bedenken auf. Da kann man nur von Glück sagen, daß Hersteller SSI keine deutsche Firma is. Der geschmacklose Spielinhalt soll für diesen Test außer acht gelassen werden.

Panzer General, the first of the General games of SSI, was a truly fantastic game when it came out in 1994. It combined hard-core strategy games with lighter, but unrealistic ones, creating a mix of them which was perfect for both veterans and beginners. The game became light, but realistic with a graphical interface which was good enough for the casual gamer. The irony is that it brought almost nothing really new to the world of round played strategies, but it was so well made and became so famous, that if someone mentions the genre, most people will answer Panzer General. So, if you like strategy games, but are a bit afraid of those hard-core looking ones, try it and you will be overwhelmed by this easy to play but very complex and very realistic game. But be warned, the game will take a long time to beat.

Goed: een soort bewegend Stratego, maar dan veel complexer. Ook goed: zeer realistische scenario's. Fout: je moet vechten aan de kant van de Nazi's. Nog fouter: de opdracht om de Nazi's de tweede wereldoorlog te laten winnen.
