Raptor: Call of the Shadows

Nej, det är inte ännu en Jurassic Park-licens det är frågan om, utan ett blixtrande shareware-Shoot-em-up från Apogee. Det är ett steg tillbaka i skoj-faktorn, jämfört med Wolfenstein och deras andra spel. Det är ju ett typiskt scrollande skjuta-spel där fienderan kommer flygandes mot en i vågor. Vi har sett det tusentals gånger förut men det bör, i rättvisans namn nämnas att Apogee utvecklat denna väl använda idé en hel del.

Satisfies the appetite for destruction and looks good doing it. Like all shooters, it gets a bit repetitive after a while. This one's about the best-looking PC shoot-'em up around.

Raptor is a fairly common 2D sci-fi shooter. What differs it from the vast amounts of similar games is the detail and complexity. It is obvious that Apogee has put a great amount of time and effort into this game. The result is excellent! It's a fast paced, fun to play, great looking game. There are plenty of missions, each one special in a certain way, and each one containing its own unique "boss" at the end.

För egen del tröttnar jag rätt fort på sådana här spel. Det blir lite enahanda efter ett tag. Men Raptor är mycket bra, med ett fantastiskt ljud och imponerande scrollning och grafik. Finns att få tag på i välsorterade BBS:er. Lyckas ni inte hitta det, så kontakta undertecknad.

Aside from that, Raptor is a good addition to a much neglected genre. There aren't really enough levels to keep you entertained for long (Xenon II also suffers from this), but it's fairly enjoyable while it lasts.
