Ravenloft: Stone Prophet

"Stone Prophet" is an Advanced Dungeons & Dragons adventure game with some improvement and creativity added to the very classical AD&D rules. The adventure begins when a spatiotemporal gate is found leading to the ancient desert of Har'Akir. Of course your team of adventurers are the first to travel through the gate. Suddenly you realize that you're trapped in these strange wastelands haunted by curses, evil creatures, zombie-like monsters and diseased corpses rotting away. One of your prime concerns is the water. Your only hope of escape is to follow the advice of some blind old man and seek out the stone prophet, a huge hieroglyphic wall hidden within an obelisk. Beware of the ancient mummy of Anhktepot who is said to bring death to those he touches at night. Naturally you'll have to explore vaste desert lands, but also some ancient underground dungeons and caves filled with friends who may help you, or foes such as monsters.

J'ai préféré Stone Prophet à Menzoberranzan : l'ambiance Basse Egypte est plutôt réussie. Les amateurs de donjons seront comblés.

Vad som lyfter Stone Prophet är däremot den närmast perfekta blandningen av ävenyrs- och rollspelsinslag. Det är enormt stort, och även den mest inbitne rollspelare lär sitta fast ett par veckor med det.

Like Strahd's Possession, Ravenloft Stone Prophet is a very enjoyable Role-Playing game though there is a lot of open desert to traverse. It is not so difficult that you will spend days bashing your head against the dungeon walls, but there is enough depth in it to keep the RPG fan well and truly entertained. And I would recommend it for newer players as well as it will simply take the RPG novices amongst you a little longer to complete, and that can't be bad because you'll enjoy it for even longer.

With Ravenloft: Stone Prophet, SSI has squeezed the last remaining drops of blood from the stone that was their TSR license.

Alles in allem befindet sich SSI auf dem richtigen Weg. Je eine Prise Action, Rätsel und Konversation lockern das Erforschen riesiger Wüsten und Dungeons erfrischend auf. Allerdings sollte man in der Zukunft nicht den bequemen Weg gehen und die vorhandene Game-Engine bis in alle Ewigkeit verwenden, sonst stellt sich schnell der bekannte Pool of Radiance-Effekt ein.

Kenner der Materie werden sich Stone Prophet genüßlich reinziehen. Einsteiger seien vor den vielen Regeldetails gewarnt, aber dank ausgefeilter Bedienung ist das Programm gar nicht mal so unzulänglich.
