Sabre Team

This is an excellent game that you don't want to miss, if you are a fan of the genre. The AI and controls in the game are the weakest parts, but the atmosphere and gameplay are excellent. There’s a large amount of different weapons and equipment, which as far as I know is the same as elite soldiers use in the real world. There is also a great deal of challenge in the game, so if you like it, you will probably play it for many hours. So, what are you waiting for?

Det här spelet har redan åtnjutit en smärre framgång på Amiga, men är nu tillbaka för PC med helt ny grafik och kod. Utvecklarna, Krisalis, satsar stort på det här spelet och jag kan direkt säga att det är superbt.

Sabre Team originally appeared on the Amiga, and it looks like it too. It may sound patronising, but PC users, I suspect, will demand something considerably meatier.

Sabre Team isn't exactly crap (you might get a few hours or so of gameplay out of it if you're prepared to be patient), but it simply doesn't have anything special to make up for the mediocre graphics and gameplay, and at thirty quid, I can't recommend it.

Easy to get into; novices may enjoy it for a brief period of time. Serious flaws and impossible jerky game-play; why should it cost 3 Action Points to turn my head? This simulation simply does not measure up to the competition.

Der Ansatz ist gar nicht mal unspannend: Das Investieren von Bewegungspunkten in Aktionen und die taktische Aufteilung der Team-Mitglieder hat anfangs ihren Reiz. Doch der ebenso unfaire und unübersichtliche Level-Aufbau walzt alle Motivationsansätze nieder. Mehr Szenarien, die fairer und übersichtlicher gestaltet sind, hätten vielleicht noch was gerettet. So bleibt's bei der lediglich mäßigen Ausführung eines klassischen Taktikkonzepts. Die Programmierer kennen sich offensichtlich mit militaristischen Sprüchen besser aus als mit gutem Spieldesign. Mein Karrieretip: Schult auf Söldner um und belastet die Umwelt nicht mit solchem Software-Schmumpf.
