Savage Warriors

Until recently, if you had asked me what were the best fighting games on the PC, I would have replied without hesitation: Mortal Kombat II and Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Although they are very different in their production, they both offer a great gameplay and good graphics which is essential in this kind of game. However, the arrival of Warriors, the latest game published by Mindscape, might change the actual configuration in the world of fighting games.

Warriors est sans contexte le plus réussi techniquement de tous les beat'em up, même si certains rétrogrades continueront à lui préférer les jeux de combats classiques à base de sprites.

Prügelspiel-Flut hin oder her, Warriors ist auf jeden Fall einen Blick wert. Die unter Super VGA sehr filigranen Spielfiguren wirken durch die "3D Bio Motion" erstaunlich plastisch. Auch die Musik von CD, die knackigen Soundeffekte und die stimmungvollen Hintergründe bieten viel für Auge und Ohr. Revolutionäre Verbesserungen im spielerischen Bereich gibt es dagegen nicht. Die Steuerung ist exakt, die Schläge abwechslungsreich und einige der originellen Special Moves provozieren erstaunt aufgerissene Augen, aber wirklich neue Elemente fehlen fast vollständig.

High-quality soundtrack; good variety of fighters; colorful backgrounds. Blocky graphics and unconvincing animation; no way to reconfigure keyboard commands. It just doesn't stand up to the current crop of fighting games.

Warriors är ett fightingspel av den modell som vi har sett högvis med gånger tidigare, men det är inte speciellt bra om man bortser från grafiken.
