Summary

BEST GAME EVER!!!

The Good

The Secret of Monkey Island is in my opinion the best game ever made. Few games even come close. I've yet to see a game that can beat its insane humor and unforgettable one-liners. Sam & Max: Hit the Road is the only game which even comes close to achieving the wit in this game. The humor isn't the only reason for its magnificence, the music and graphics are very nice too. I don't think any song in a game is as awesome as LeChuck's theme (with the possible exception of Loom's music...) Everything that you could want in an adventure game is there, story, puzzles, sound, and graphics. This is definitely the game which sparked LucasArt's golden age which in my opinion lasted from '90 to '93.

What makes this game really stand out from all others are the unforgettable characters (who can forget names like Guybrush Threepwood and LeChuck?). They're all incredibly well written for, and never fail to say something funny. One great line is when Guybrush asks the paranoid pirate in the bar about his glass eye..."Well, I putting in my contact lens one day when...Hey! That's none of your business!"

The Bad

This is one of the only games where I can honestly say that I didn't find anything wrong with it. Even with some of my favorites I can usually think of something negative...Sam & Max and Loom were too short, Maniac Mansion wasn't as funny as others, etc...Perhaps what makes this game really stand out is that there's no downside...

The Bottom Line

Brilliant. Simply brilliant. If you don't have this, FIND IT NOW. This game is too awesome to be passed up. I've yet to find someone that didn't enjoy this game.
