Colonization is so complex and has so many layers that you will probably learn new things every time you play it. Its potential is limitless and each game played is completely unique. That is why it might seem very difficult at the beginning, but you can learn the basics quickly.

Bislang war Civilization über jeden Zweifel erhaben - kein Konkurrent konnte dieser komplexen Wirtschaftssimulation das Wasser reichen. Nun hat aber Sid Meier persönlich in die Tasten gegriffen, um endlich zu zeigen, daß Steigerungen durchaus möglich sind.

Colonization on kevyttä tutkimusmatkailua, strategiaa ja kaupankäyntiä kauniissa ulkokuoressa Microprose-tyyliin. Ei ollenkaan huono esitys, tämä takaa monia todella pitkiä peli-istuntoja.

Wenn man Colonization etwas vorwerfen kann, dann das Fehlen einer wirklich neuen, zündenden Grundidee. Es ist eine solide, hochmotivierende Fortführung des Civilization-Spielprinzips ohne umwälzende Innovationen. Durch das ausgeklügelte Design sowie die schier unendliche Fülle an Szenarien wird man hier monatelang blendend unterhalten. Für alle Anhänger von leicht zugänglichen Strategiespielen ein Pflichtkauf.

If I had been born in the same era as Christopher Columbus, without a doubt I would have been a famous explorer too. Unfortunately, the end of the twenty first century did not leave me any unexplored lands to be discovered except for the all new game from Sid Meier, the long awaited "Colonization".

Wer einmal bei "Civilization" auf den Geschmack gekommen ist, dem wird Sid Meiers Fortsetzung schlaflose Nächte bereiten. Auch wenn Ihr es nach Monaten geschafft haben solltet, die Unabhängigkeit zu erklären und alle anderen Konkurrenten zu vertreiben, fangt Ihr garantiert wieder von vorne an, weil Ihr so viel gelernt habt, daß Ihr meint, die ganze Sache in der Hälfte der Zeit zu schaukeln. Es macht einfach einen Heidenspaß, Städte zu bauen, kleine Männchen umzuwandeln und zu schauen, was sich auf dem nächsten dunklen Fleck auf der Karte befindet.

Overall, Colonization is to Civilization what Alpha Centauri is to Civilization II. It introduces new concepts, improves the replay value and allows for a very unique experience, while maintaining the same style of play. Despite the weak graphics, unbalanced A.I. and a few rather weird choices by the designer, the game should be in the collection of every serious gamer.

But there's one problem: the replay value is not too high! There are only a few different ways of playing: peaceful coexistence, war against the Indians or war against the other Europeans. That's it. Colonization can be played several hours a day without problems, but if you've solved it some times, you won't touch it again for quite some time...

På grund av komplexiteten tar det en stund att sätta sig in i spelet, men när man lärt sig hur det fungerar är man fast för lång tid framöver.
