Bei aller Kritik wird solide Taktikkost geboten. Drei Zoomstufen, fünf Schwierigkeitsgrade sowie die Vielzahl an Einheiten, Waffen und Missionen sorgen für leidlich Spielspaß. Die Beschränkung auf zwei oder drei Handvoll Einheiten pro Mission ist nicht uninteressant, wenngleich ich deswegen häuftig eigene Truppen vernichten mußte. Genre-Kenner könnten sich über die Wetterzonen, Versorgungsnöte, Artillerie-Radien und sporadisch auftauchenden Aliens freuen. An die Vorbilder Battle Isle und Panzer General kommt Space Marines aber nicht heran.
