SSN-21 Seawolf

Det som drar ner helhetsintrycket är att de sovjetiska ytfartygen verkar något korkade. De fortsätter rakt fram i sakta mak även om dina torpeder just har sänkt en av dem. Det är först när en av eskortjagarna fått in dig på sina displayer som det börjar röra sig i leden. Detta till trots så vill jag inte vara utan Seawolf i min samling!

Seawolf on hyvissä asemissa vuoden simulaattoriksi, jos minulta kysytään. Upea ja loistava eepos tarjoaa jännitystä sekä väpinää.

Seawolf - następca 688 Attack Sub firmowany jest przez Electronic Arts. Trzeba przyznać, że gra stoi na wysokim poziomie zarówno pod względem opracowania graficzno-dźwiękowego jak i realizmu. Gdy pierwszy raz wyjdziesz na peryskopową i ujrzysz falujące morze, burzowe chmury, rozbłyski piorunów, palące się statki, helikoptery w powietrzu... przez dłuższy czas będziesz miał kłopot z domknięciem szczęki. Niestety słabo stworzono sylwetki statków, gdyż są one nierealne (po prostu kiepskie).

But at the end of the day, and to get real for a moment, the game I really want doesn't exist. Seawolf, however, does exist. And while the overall approach may be getting a bit long in the tooth, there's no denying that the atmosphere it produces excels.

Sweet graphics and sound; modem play gives it life beyond its 32 scenarios. Stupid interface decisions; spotty AI; bad campaign mode; and some unrealistic elements. An entertaining game, but one that could have been so much better.

When you dish out $60 for the newest whiz-bang simulation, you expect the heavens to move at the very least. When you plop down a trifling $9.95 for a CD-ROM "Classic" like SSN-21 Seawolf, the best you can hope for is an outdated program that might give you a change of pace from your usual fare. Prepare for a big surprise! Seawolf is a player.

Objektiv gesehen ist Sea Wolf absolut OK. Massig Missionen hier, viele Funktionen da, grafisch gab man sich einigermaßen Mühe und die Bedienung... naja, haben Sie erst einmal die häufigsten Tastaturgriffe intus, gelangen Sie im Nu an die richtige Station. Die fröhlichen Auftauchmanöver und unkomplizierten Verfolgungsjagden von Silent Service II haben einfach mehr Spielwitz. Dafür kann man beim Taktik-lastigen Sea Wolf selbst herausknobeln, ob die sich nähernden Sonarimpulse von einem sowjetischen U-Boot oder einem verliebten Wal stammen. Wer's mag...
