Super Silverbrothers uses 256-color mode X. Unlike other 2D scrollers, the entire board bitmap had to fit in the 256KB of VGA memory. It did not support unlimited scrolling like Commander Keen. The tile grid was to 45*20, with 16*16 tiles, giving a virtual screen size of 720x320. The 320x200 and 320x240 modes are both VGA compatible, while the 640x400 mode only worked on TSENG-ET4000 video cards. Tiles and sprites were stored in the remaining video memory for faster copying speed.
