Happy Computer
Die getestete MS-DOS-Version ist in technischer Hinsicht äußerst bemerkenswert. Thexder ist nämlich eines der ganz wenigen guten Action-Spiele für PCs, die mit einer CGA-Karte laufen. Auf unserem Schneider-Pe wurden wir von fließender Animation und flottem Scrolling verblüfft. Bei den angekündigten Amiga- und ST-Umsetzungen wird man sicherlich in den Genuß von mehr Farben kommen.

So overall, how's the game? Not bad. The graphics are used to good effect, the controls are fine, and there is some depth to the gameplay. The level layouts aren't too inspired, the music could have certainly been left out, and the laser behavior could have been tweaked, but the game can still be fun. It's a simple run 'n gun doesn't strive to do more than it has to, and if that strikes your fancy, then you may just enjoy yourself.

As a PC shooter Thexder may be decent but, when compared to good quality Arcade and console games of similar style, it just doesn't stand up.
