Very good game, although not the 'wonder' of realism

The Good
Got this game almost immediately after it came out. The majority of the graphics were very pleasant, and the general storyline is quite impressive. The videos move the plot along very well, so you feel a sense of participation in this game that you are very unlikely to feel in other flight games.

The Bad
Unfortunately, the terrain looks AWFUL, with very very few exceptions, but really not much effort has gone into the landscape drawing at all.

Also, having Merlin (your rio) shouting "BADGER BOMBER!" "MIG 21, RANGE 21 MILES AT ANGELS 6" over and over again in the space of 1 minute in an engagement is rather annoying. Also, some of the missions are very very tedious. Particularly in the later Korean and Libyan theaters, which involve gasp Recon. Unfortunately, there are only 'dirty underhand' ways of passing missions you cannot do. If you can't do it, and you don't know much about PCs, you'll be stuck on the mission for life. To some, however, this may give the game some credit, as it shows it is a challenge and not a piece of cake.

The Bottom Line
If you hated the movie, by NO means will you necessarily hate this game. Neither of them are too realistic, yet the game probably cuts it, as it is based more around tactical skills and long range fighting rather than short-range encounters.

I recommend this game fully, if you can find it, as it is a plot I'm sure you'll enjoy.
