Summary
The best of its kind.
The Good
Until now "Transport Tycoon" is THE traffic simulation. Although it was released seven years ago, it maintains all of its superb quality and doesn't get old. The wonderful, bright and crisp SVGA graphics can't be considered outdated even for today's standards. The animation (of the trains, buses and other vehicles) is also very good. Your possibilities in the game are almost unlimited: you can purchase trains, planes, buses, ships and create railways, bus routes, airports, docks and lots of other things. The game starts in 1930 and goes on and one, every several years more modern means of transportation appear. You can compete with computer adversaries or found a traffic empire on your own.
The Bad
There are some flaws and weak sides in the game, such as:
1)The cities are too small, and the railway stations and the airports much too large. It's almost impossible to build a railway station near the center area of a city. It would've been better if they had made less cities, but larger ones.
2) Too many accidents, especially train collisions, even at the easiest level. It's almost impossible to make your trains act cleverly and avoid collisions. Pretty unrealistic.
3) It's common for the buses to get stuck near a station, without being able either to stop at it or to drive away. Who has ever seen a thing like this?
4) Too many mountains. You can't build a railway station or even lay a track on a mountain side. Why, I wonder? They have probably never seen our railway station in Jerusalem.
The Bottom Line
Despite all those minor flaws, "Transport Tycoon" is still a huge traffic simulation. Anyone who's interested in such kind of stuff should purchase a copy of this game.
