Trivia
Witchaven's cover art is by artist Ken Kelly. It was available as a mail-in as a wall-poster upon release as well.
There are three different races of goblins (yellow/sand, brown/mountian, green/forest) and two races of ogres (brown and deep red). The different tribes will attack each other on-sight.
Although created with the same engine as "Duke Nukem 3D" and other games, the editors that came with those games and the editor that came with "Witchaven 2" will not open "Witchaven" maps.
The main character's name is Grondoval. The rightful lord of the Witchaven, also known as an island called Char, is Lord Verkapheron. The enemies known as the "Knights of Midian" were created by the witches from the fragmented essence of the High Priest Midian who's apprentice brought about the coming of the witches to Char.
The music to the opening movie is playable as Redbook CD Audio on track 2 of the CD.
Although the opening movie appears to have nothing to do with the game, the manual explains that it is a dream that the main character has on a reoccurring basis before starting his quest at the Witchaven.
"Witchaven" used an early version of the BUILD engine created by Ken Silverman and later used in *numerous* other games, including "Duke Nukem 3D" from 3D Realms, "Blood" from Monolith, etc.
