SummarySimple combat sim, yet a bit repetitive...
The GoodGraphics weren't too hot at the time, and they were far from the Wing Commander standards. Yet simple graphics ment smooth gameplay, and that's what Mantis was all about: frenetic and fun dog-fighting. The medal system was challenging and enjoyable, and it's what really kept me going further in the game. Also, one hundred missions means a lot of gameplay hours.
The BadStoryline was too generic and loose. Impossible to tie it to 100 missions. Other than that it was enacted by amateur actors. Gameplay was quite repetitive after a while, and the only thing that seemed to change from mission to mission was the number of enemies to fight off. Near the end of the game you were so outnumbered it was nearly impossible to win, so balance was also poor on this one.
