Did I feel relief from the tension of managing to progress through the excitement of the game? And…Was I sorry that the game was over, because I would have wanted it to continue? The answer to each question is a resounding "Yes". This is a story for all of you horror-adventure fans out there and it is not to be missed.

Dracula Resurrection is everything done right in a horror-themed adventure game. Originally released for the PC in May of 2000 by Dreamcatcher (in North America), this is the game that proves the old Mac gamer's adage true: we may not get every port of every game, we just get the best ones. And this one is well worth the wait.

This game is not earth-shattering. It breaks no new ground. What it is is a solid, atmospheric adventure game that follows a linear path and features puzzles of increasing difficulty. The novice and the more experienced gamer can both enjoy it on their own terms.

We happen to know that a few companies are interested in purchasing the distribution rights. Advertise to the Anne Rice/Stephen King crowd and, combined with the current revival in horror action/adventure games like Resident Evil on the Playstation and Nocturne on the computer, this could be a title that encourages many to attempt a pure adventure game for the first time. Virgin blood so to speak. Let's put a stake through the heart of the bloodthirsty for once and show our support for a game that doesn't suck.

Especialemente recomendada a aquellos que encuentren atrayentes estas aventuras pero nunca se hayan atrevido a jugarlas por el miedo de ver tan sólo puzzles encadenados uno tras otro. No, Drácula Resurrección es diferente. Sería una perfecta carta de presentación del spin-o-rama para iniciados y curiosos, o para aquellos aventureros no exigentes que tan sólo deseen descansar un poco tras haber jugado a otras aventuras más largas.

Indéniablement, dès l'intro, on est pris à la gorge par l'ambiance de Dracula... on sentirait presque le froid de Transylvanie s'échapper de l'écran et nous fouetter le visage ! Le graphisme, le son, les animations des personnages... c'est du haut de gamme. Dracula est cependant limité par un cheminement des énigmes incertain et un scénario un peu creux. Mais au finish, c'est une belle réussite.

Just like Dracula himself this game has been well and truly kept in the dark. What a very pleasant surprise it turned out to be even though it has a familiar damsel in distress theme. It's a most enjoyable trip which isn't too difficult, but will surely entertain you all the way through. It's a game I would certainly recommend for beginners because of the way in which the problems get progressively more difficult, but don't miss out on it just because you think you're too clever. It deserves to be a 'hit' and the popular Vampire theme could, possibly, ensnare a new wave of adventure game players.

Dracula Resurrection is not exactly a very frightening game (it can be corny at times, especially when you listen to some of the dialogue), but it’s good for people who simply want a game that involves finding items and using them to progress through its various parts. The puzzles are mostly simple, but some may confuse you and you’ll have to look for a walkthrough on the Internet. Overall, the game is pretty fun and has its good and bad points.

The foray into Dracula's castle is a blast, and the game is heavy with atmosphere, though this too is diminished somewhat by the cut-scene style of game play. This atmosphere is almost all due to the graphics, and I found that the sound / music did very little to add (or detract) from the overall effect. I have to say, though, that I had a lot of fun with this one, despite its drawbacks. While it is not what I have come to expect from a game trying to compete in today's market, it was an enjoyable departure from the usual fare.

Die Atmosphäre ist dank Schauerschunkelhorror-Gedudel recht dicht und einem Vampirspiel angemessen. Die Rätsel bleiben durchgehend logisch und sind jeweils durch eine kurze Render-Sequenz in Szene gesetzt. Das größte Problem liegt in den zu verwendenden Objekten. Deren Optik verhält sich nämlich zu 90 Prozent äquivalent zur ostfriesischen Nationalflagge: weißer Adler auf weißem Grund. Nur dass sich bei Dracula die Gegenstands- und Umgebungsfarben genrerichtig eher im braunen Camouflage-Spektrum aufhalten.

“Drácula: Resurrección” no es un mal juego y no es una mala opción para aquellos que no tienen grandes títulos por jugar. Es una aventura que, si bien no encandilará a nadie, sí que se deja jugar fácilmente. Los gráficos están muy bien realizados, es sencillo, lógico, la historia es interesante y resulta agradable de jugar. Incluso puede resultar aceptable para aquellos a los que no les suelen gustar las aventuras en primera persona. Además, su lógica y sencillez son dos aspectos interesantes de cara a aquellos que se están iniciando en este mundo.

So overall, the game certainly has its ups and downs. Good graphics don’t always make a good game…this is a lesson that has been proven true over and over again in the past. However, Dracula Resurrection, despite its weak plot and flat characters, has its moments, and although few and infrequent, almost made up for the fact that I wasn’t having any fun playing it.

En conséquence, Dracula est sans conteste, le meilleur jeu de son genre. Plus passionnant et plus beau que tous ces produits analogues. Le problème, c'est qu'il est possible de trouver ce jeu conventionnel, vraiment trop conventionnel. Il n'apporte pas grand chose au genre ( contrairement aux apports de Versailles ou de Myst). De plus, le jeu est assez court : on estime la durée de vie du jeu pour un jour "moyen" entre 15 et 20 heures... C'est un peu léger. Mais que cela ne soit pas pour vous un frein à vous le procurer : Dracula n'en reste pas moins passionnant.

I'm not entirely sure at which audience Dracula Resurrection is aimed. It's too easy and short for hard-core adventure gamers, but its content makes it unsuitable for families. Well, most families, anyway. Some of my neighbors would probably...never mind. The game looks fantastic; the sets are spooky and the characters are wonderful in their appearance and delivery. But the puzzles are too easily solved and the story--although it starts off strongly--is ultimately unsatisfying. It does, however, leave you wanting for the sequel; a showdown with Dracula in early 1900's London could be wildly entertaining if done correctly, and there's enough in Dracula Resurrection to indicate it will be. And even if not, at only $14.99, it's less than the price of two tickets to a Hollywood vampire movie, and probably twice as entertaining.

Es wird wohl kein Zufall sein, dass der Graf in Dracula Resurrection aussieht wie eine abgehalfterte Mischung aus Iggy Pop und Marilyn Manson. So alt, wie der Bösewicht in der Havas-Umsetzung wirkt, erscheint auch das Spielkonzept. Konventionelle Rätsel im "Finde-Schlüssel-und-stecke-ihn-ins-Schloss"-Stil, hölzerne Dialoge und eine Story, die erst nach Stunden einigermaßen in Gang kommt - die Vampirgeschichte scheitert in praktisch allen Punkten, die für ein gelungenes Adventure relevant sind. Hinzu kommt, dass die Jagd auf den wiederbelebten Blutsauger recht kurz ausgefallen ist: Selbst Anfänger dürften mit Dracula Resurrection kaum länger als zwei oder drei Abende beschäftigt sein.

All in all I would say that the games pros were the 3D environments, sound, and character animation. The cons, I felt was the style of game play. I did not like how you had to “spin” the environment until you found a clickable area to move forward. I would say that you might appreciate this game more if you were into the whole Dracula scene that the anti-social kids seem to be into now-a-days. If you are one of those hard-core gamer dudes, who likes to spend weeks in front of their computer playing a single segment in a game I would think otherwise about purchasing this title.

De objekten die je moet aanklikken om verder te komen, zijn nogal onduidelijk en je loopt daardoor het grootste deel van de game rondjes te draaien op zoek naar een hot objekt. Grafisch gezien is de game ook al niet van hoogstaand niveau en sommige puzzels zijn (letterlijk en figuurlijk) vergezocht, je zoekt af en toe echt naar een speld in de hooiberg.

This is a competent extension of the legend of Dracula that has no major flaws and has quite intriguing graphics and sound. With nothing really novel to offer, and a short gameplay experience with few characters, locales, or tantalizing puzzles, this adventure-puzzle game is best suited for novice adventurers. But even they will not feel a sense of delightful fright, nor will they be able to settle the score once and for all with Dracula himself. For you few inveterate gothic horror lovers who just cannot stay away, and who realize that this will just be a pleasurable diversion rather than a deeply immersive full-fledged adventure escapade, bring out the garlic and get ready for a brief but memorable excursion into the world of the undead.

Die schicken Renderschauplätze werden von Billigrätseln zusammengehalten: das Spiel ist im Nu gelöst. Freunde guter Computergrafik müssen sich entscheiden: Dracula kaufen, oder doch lieber sechs mal Toy Story 2 ansehen?

Inegn musik i världen kan dock rädda ett spel som är sövande i den här graden. Jag rekommenderar en rejäl träpåle genom PlayStation efter att konsolen har besudlats med Dracula Resurrection. Dränk därefter i rikligt med vigvatten. Glöm bara inte att dra ut strömsladden först.

And that really is all you would want to know. My recommendations? Don't buy it. Don't talk about it. Don't commit it beyond your short-term memory. If you see it in the shops, hide the box behind a copy of Lula. If a relative gives it to you as a gift, cut their photos out of the family albums. If your dog chews on it, take it to the vet with great haste.
