My only complaint is that the treasure items that looked so nice in the 2600 version are plain and single-colored here. In later stages a troll patrols the treasure room, adding to the challenge. Dragonfire has ten skill levels, and although it's tough, the controls are perfectly responsive. This game has it all. There's even a nice title screen showing a princess in the tower and the dragon peeking out of the gate.
Atari 2600The Video Game Critic (Jul 14, 2001)
The treasures are wonderfully detailed - not the blocky junk you normally see. The castles and dragons have a nice variety of color schemes, and the challenge ramps nicely. Dragonfire is easily my favorite Imagic game, and one of my favorite Atari 2600 titles overall.
Speed and agility are the key skills here, if you want to keep from getting toasted. He who hesitates is burnt.

Atari 2600Woodgrain Wonderland (Dec 26, 2016)
Dragonfire is one of the ultimate challenges available on the 2600 and one at least worth attempting.
IntellivisionThe Video Game Critic (Feb 05, 2002)
Unfortunately, the graphics are not as sharp as the 2600 version. Although the dragons look exactly the same, the chunky, single-colored treasures pale against the beautiful riches of the Atari version. Also, the collision detection is poor and you'll sometimes run right through a treasure. Dragonfire for the Intellivision is a good, albeit uneven, effort.
Atari 2600Atari HQ (2002)
While it's a simple game and there are basic skills that can be readily learned, there's room for sophisticated moves and tactical finesse. Graphics are small, but cute; the sound effects are about what you'd expect from Imagic offerings. As another of the grab-and-go formats, this one is distinctive enough for long-term fun.
IntellivisionTeleMatch (May, 1983)
Fazit: Andauernder Spielspaß für Besitzer des ATARI- und des INTELLIVISION-Systems.

Atari 2600Tilt (Jul, 1983)

ZX SpectrumYour Spectrum (Dec, 1984)
A real contender for the Turkey of the Year Award is this one, the graphics are awful (the jumps are particularly hilarious) and the game has no real challenge to it.
