4 Wheel Thunder

All in all, I loved this game. Once again, I am not a huge fan of racing games, but I think 4 Wheel Thunder just became my exception. The graphics and sound blew me away. The races are difficult to the point that I won't get frustrated, but I won't get bored. I would definitely recommend getting your hands on this game.

4 Wheel Thunder is snel, heeft mooie graphics en de besturing van de verschillende wagens laat weinig te wensen over, met uitzondering van het remmen dan. Dat had ietsje beter gekund.

"Too many cooks spoil the broth."

I used to hear that one a lot when I was younger, but I'm not sure I really understood why that was. I mean, whenever I saw an ad for a fancy hotel that promised a world-class dining experience, they always showed a line of employees that included at least 10 cooks. Apparently someone thought they could co-exist, otherwise people wouldn't be paying for their services, right? Right?

For a sequel to one of the world's most uninspired games, 4 Wheel Thunder does a marvelous job of standing on its own two feet. Strong gameplay mechanics and killer graphics imbue it with the kind of longevity most automotive sims can only dream of. Still, you won't be able to shake the feeling that had a few huge-ass guns or a more diverse range of powerups been programmed in, the title would have been much more than a solid arcade racer.

Maybe you haven't been getting excited about 4 Wheel Thunder before now, but it's one of the most entertaining, challenging and best-looking driving games you'll find, and one that's well worth spending time really getting into. Even though it looks excellent, the emphasis here is firmly on gameplay, and that's something a lot of developers seem to overlook these days. Excellent stuff.

If the Dreamcast lacks one thing, it's arcade-style racing games. While Flag to Flag, Monaco Grand Prix, and Sega Rally offer varying degrees of arcade excitement and simplicity, no single title exists that fun-loving racing fanatics can sink their teeth into. Seeking to fill this void, Midway is serving up thrills, spills, and spine-tingling off-road chills with its release of 4 Wheel Thunder.

Beyond the ridiculously high challenge level and disappointing soundtrack, this is a bright spot for Midway. While the difficulty level problem may keep a few people away, the rest will love this games arcade feel. A few more Thunder games may get redundant, but if the series continues to be high quality, gamers will welcome this series.

Arcade-Fun pur wird mit diesem Allrad-Racer geboten. Rasen Sie mit einigen stark gefederten Boliden, In- oder Out-Door über rasante Strecken. Stoff geben was geht, verschiedene Boost´s können während der Fahrt aufgesammelt werden und es gilt diese auch einzusetzen. Die Grafik kann sich durchaus sehen lassen und das Verhalten der Offroad-Cars ist recht gut gelungen. Zwar ist der Spielmodi nicht wirklich herausfordernd, aber fun macht das Game auf jeden Fall. Fazit: Für Fans solcher Vehikel schon mal zu empfehlen.
