If you liked the first Dynamite Deka, then Deka 2 will surely please. Fans of hack 'n slash games will want it as well. DD2 is everything the first game was plus better graphics, more characters, enemies, weapons and moves. The game's only downside (for some people) is that you can finish a single mission in about 30 minutes. If that doesn't float your boat, then it might be a great rental...

Super Play

Dynamite this game may be, but it has far too short fuse and leaves the player feeling a little cheated, there just isn’t enough here to hold interest.

Like many arcade game ports the game just doesn't cut it on a console in terms of replay and game length, even on high difficulty its still pretty short. In an arcade this kind of length is perfectly acceptable, but not so much when it comes to a home console. And speaking of the arcade edition, if you've played it and beaten it (especially with friends) then you really don't need to bother with this direct port. It would have been nice had they added support for an extra player, since there are three characters available, something that would have set it apart from the arcade version. If you haven't played it and can pick it up cheap then it's certainly a fun, if a bit of a short trip.

Oddly enough, punches inflict as much damage as gunshots! Bosses you'll face include a fat chef who tosses exploding carrots, and an enormous Kraken that somehow found its way into the engine room. This game is cheesy as hell, but if you're in the mood for goofy fighting mayhem, Dynamite Cop serves its purpose. Just don't ask me what that purpose would be.

Digital Press - Classic Video Games
Fans of the first game will be quick to pick this title up, but they'll still have to contend with the short length. A few extras hardly compensate for the lack of play time. Great graphics and solid gameplay can hardly make gamers overlook the fact that 20-minutes doesn't exactly equal $50.

Assigning a final score to Dynamite Cop has proven to be somewhat vexing, as although it’s of average quality, it’s sorely lacking in terms of longevity. Truthfully, there’s fun to be had here, especially in the multiplayer mode, but not in enough quantities. Additionally, if you’ve played the arcade version through to completion (or even Die Hard Arcade for that matter), it’s hardly worth a glance. To put it bluntly, Dynamite Cop is like the latest attraction at your local theme park: It is somewhat entertaining, but at the same time, hardly worth the wait, and over with way too quickly.

Planet Dreamcast
Even though Dynamite Cop is really the only brawler on the Dreamcast at the moment, it probably isn't worth your money. If you're a big fan of beat 'em ups, consider renting it for a few days. Dynamite Cop is fun in spots, but its short length and lack of depth make this one really hard to recommend. Go play Streets of Rage 2 instead.

If you’re pumping a couple of quarters into a machine as you wait for a movie to start, Dynamite Cop fits the bill. However, if you’re dropping $50 on a home game, this one falls way short.
