The Video Game Critic
It may not have as many features as Madden 2002, but NFL 2K2 is just as fun. Still, the graphics that looked so impressive two years ago look pretty average by today's standards. Sega gave the players detailed but generic faces this year, but this might not have been a wise decision. Some of these guys look pretty scary, especially the referees with those large, unblinking eyes!

Armchair Empire, The
Visual Concepts continues to be the Super Bowl winner of football videogames, especially on the Dreamcast, where there are no other real contenders. Despite two strong challengers for the title, NFL Fever and the newest Madden, NFL2K2 again delivers the best and most accurate gridiron gaming experience available.

Overall, a very worthy installement to the Dreamcasts best series. The Dreamcasts bow out may be ugly, but atleast the 2k series goes out with a bang. The gameplay is as good as ever and the rosters are fairly accurate. Online ranking gives you a chance to see if you are truly the best. Worth any DC gamers money, especially an online DC gamer.

Overall, other than the selection screens and updated player rosters, this is little more than an updated/remixed version of NFL2K1. If you have NFL2K1, try out 2K2 before picking it up. If you don't have any of the games, I might suggest seeking out 2K1, which is in my opinion, the better game and also the better value. Don't get me wrong. I think this is a good game, check out the scores above if you don't believe me.

If you want a new football game and your only console is a Dreamcast -- well, it's a choice between NFL 2K2 or, umm, NFL 2K2. Fortunately, even with this being the case, you will find an entertaining game. If you are a fan of playing online, you will have a blast. Sega Sports is porting this game to the PS2 and I am really interested in seeing how it turns out. The tempo, controls and overall feel of the game just feel right. I do wish they'd made more improvements over the previous year's version but hey, there is always next year... or is there?
