In the end, I am just let down by the whole experience. Pod: Speedzone came in with some cool ideas, but ended up being an under-developed game that isn't that fun to play. The online elements help matters somewhat, but even this side of the game seems like it was one or two simple changes away from being worthwhile. What you're left with is an average game that could have been so much more, and I am bummed that a little more time wasn't spent with this game, because a few tweaks could have made it a show-stopper. Ah least there's still hope for Speed Devils Online...

There are some good ideas present here, but POD SpeedZone comes up short in the end. The interesting level design, copious eye candy, and heavily touted online play are crippled by the games fumbled controls. Those jonesing for any kind of online play may find it amusing, but the majority would do well to leave POD SpeedZone for a weekend rental at best.
Review this game with as much thought went into it. POD boring. Only has eight vehicles and six tracks. Tracks have different routes, but none exciting. Sometimes it look like you find new hidden way to go, but it is wall. Sometimes you fall through track for no reason. This not good. It is future, so car have shield, and monsters attack you while race. Not make sense. Why nobody kill these monsters? Why I not kill these monsters? There are power-ups on track for me to attack other cars with. Very few power-ups. Very few fun time. Me no like. You no like either.

The Video Game Critic (Feb 02, 2002)
The racing action is pretty weak too, and power-ups fail to inject a lot excitement. In an effort to defend the lousy physics, my friend Scott pointed out that we were "racing on another planet like Mars or something." Whatever! The only thing POD has going for it is its Internet racing option. Other than that, this one is completely forgettable.
