Defunct Games
Worms Armageddon is the best party game since Bomberman! Alright ... it's as much fun as Poy Poy, Thrill Kill, and CTR ... but it's in the top five! Worms doesn't rely on good graphics. It doesn't rely on good sound. It doesn't rely on solid control. It doesn't rely on the story line. In fact, it's a baffling product, since it doesn't rely on any common focal point. And while all those bases are covered and well represented indeed, the game excelled in something I would like to call "the sadistic factor". This factor is the same factor that makes you want to destroy your friends in any way possible. Literally, this is four player hearven!

But, then again, just as Mario and Sonic do fine as single player games, Worms Armageddon does fine as a multi player game. You'll have countless nights of fun in two, three, or four player mode. The weak single player mode, unfortunately, forces me to make the following suggestion. If you have a group of friends, make sure that one of you, and only one of you, has a copy of this game.

Ook op de Dreamcast is Worms Armageddon een supermelige titel die vooral leuk is als je er drie vrienden bij haalt. De ultieme party-titel!

The one-player mode provides a fair challenge, but the computer teams require you to wait forever while they "think" about their next move (about 20 seconds per move!). Finally, there's the multi-player mode, which is really the only reason to play this game, even if you do inexplicably have to pass around the same controller. I remember magazines criticizing this controller problem FIVE YEARS AGO and it's STILL not fixed!! But despite this flaw, Worms Armageddon and a few friends is always good for an evening of wacky hijinx and madcap hilarity.

Digital Press - Classic Video Games
If you enjoy this title, Team 17 has followed this game up with Worms: World Party (which includes online play with the Dreamcast version), and soon to deploy, Worms: Blast (a game very similar to Bust-A-Move, twisted into a Worms-themed world). Next time you see something slithering across the ground after a good rain, consider the mayhem our video worms buddies can cause before smashing it to bits. You may find yourself on the receiving end of a suicide bomber worm, holding an exploding mad cow… would you really want to mess with that?

Worms Armageddon is designed so you can play with other people, and the single-player match is really no substitute. If you've got plenty of friends who spend their time lounging around your place, definitely pick this one up for some rewarding gameplay and good laughs. Although the game has its weak points, the solid gameplay and simple control make this game a must-have for anyone who likes to play games with other humans.
