Worms World Party

As a value-based title, Worms World Party is an excellent investment, as it holds its own against just about any full-priced strategy games currently available for the Dreamcast. While the DC's days are numbered, it's nice to know that you can still find excellent software at an excellent price.

So, what we've got here is the same great Worms gameplay with a few fixes and additions that aren't exactly reliable, especially when it comes to online play. Hopefully, Titus or Team 17 will be able to fix the online servers so there's less game dropouts and freezes. As it stands right now, if you've never played Worms Armageddon, Worms World Party is definitely a great pick-up. But if you're like me, a hardcore Worms Armageddon player, Worms World Party slithers a bit short on the mark of greatness.

De graphics van Worms World Party zijn vergelijkbaar met die van Armageddon, waaruit je kunt concluderen dat de game grafisch gezien niet echt kan opboksen tegen de games van tegenwoordig; de geniale gameplay maakt het echter een ideale multiplayer game!

I'm really fond of Worms World Party. It's a top quality game, and the jewel in the crown on the Worms series. The only thing in the Dreamcast version that lets it down is the price tag compared to the PC release. You can't fault it as a game though, and that's why we're here. If you've never owned a Worms game, you have no excuse, and even if you have, the Internet play is worth the asking price in itself.

Worms World Party gör sig dock naturligtvis bäst när man är fyra spelare samtidigt. Datorn påverkas ju liksom inte av ens skadeglädje, och har dessutom en förmåga att att ta en ohygglig tid på sig för sina drag. Men när man har tre kompisar, konstiga hemtillverkade lag- och masknamn och det rätta humöret är Worms World Party en riktig orgie i spelglädje. Se bara till att inte störa grannarna med era stridsvrål.

In 1881, Charles Darwin said, “It may be doubted whether there are many other creatures which have played so important a part in the history of the world.” He of course was referencing the worm – those little slimy things you run over with your car and drink with your tequila. A wildlife observer myself, I heartily agree with Chuck’s statement. Worms rule, especially when equipped with diabolical doomsday devices and weapons of war. On the gaming side, Earthworm Jim made a big splash a few years back, and now Team 17’s multiplayer party series, Worms, has wiggled its way into the hot seat of multiplayer gaming.

Au final, et malgré son concept toujours aussi efficace, Worms World Party ne convaincra que les joueurs définitivement accro à Worms, qui ne pourront s'empêcher de se jeter sur ce nouvel opus, qui se destine malgré tout à seulement deux catégories de joueurs : à ceux qui souhaitent profiter du mode de jeu en ligne, et aux novices qui souhaitent découvrir un concept de jeu qui a fait ses preuves et qui se révèle toujours autant addictif. Les autres pourront se replonger dans un Worms Armageddon qui n'a pas pris une ride, et qui possède un potentiel fun au moins aussi grand que ce nouvel opus.
