Advertising Blurbs – Nintendo GameCube:
LEGO-lovers, prepare to swerve into the fast lane with a racing game in which you build and race custom vehicles while wielding a variety of weapons.

    There's No Place Like Drome

The futuristic backdrop for this lightning quick racer is provided by the 2002 LEGO Racers construction toy range. "Drome" refers to the space-age canopies over the 12 tracks.

Under the Drome, you will race through bustling cities, massive canyons and towering mountains. Drome Champions must master three disciplines of the Multi-Challenge Races: off-road, street and drag. You can select a vehicle best suited for each race type.

Off-road competitions bristle with branching tracks and short cuts. You can collect and use power-ups while bouncing off jumps and bumps. Sliding through corners is a breeze on the dirt tracks.

Street races are a bit more conventional. You race through twisting tracks that are littered with power-ups. Weapons, speed boosts and shields are all worthy power-ups that may help land you a spot on the podium. The street physics mix ultra-high speeds with a hint of realistic grip.

Drag races put you on the starting line in a one-on-one contest that requires precision timing. To get the checkered flag you will need to get a good jump from the starting line and shift at the peak of your hot rod's power band. Be careful not to rev your motor too high or you could blow the engine.

Game Modes: Mad Max Beyond the Drome

Quick Race mode throws you right into the heat of the action. You don't have to spend time choosing a track or even a vehicle. Up to four players can compete against a pack of computer-controlled drivers.

Arcade mode is another way to host a race for as many as four players. Each competitor can choose from a list of 18 vehicles. Many of these must be unlocked before they can be chosen. All the standard races are available in this mode, including a Single Race, Time Attack and the action-filled Battle Mode.

Career mode is the chance for a single player to vie for the Drome Championship. As Max Axel, you will encounter rival teams and can customize your vehicles with the help of Shicane, your teammate and speed-specialist.

Winning races will earn you Build Points, which can be used to upgrade your vehicles in categories such as Engine, Tires, Aerodynamics and Turbo. Upgrades change your vehicle's look as well as performance, as new LEGO pieces are added as your ride.

The vehicles are detailed representations of their real-life LEGO counterparts, mixing jagged blocks and aerodynamic shapes.

Animation adds excitement to the tracks. One track leads you straight toward a wall, which opens like a giant mouth just before you reach it. Other tracks feature pillars of fire and beams of electricity.

Drome Racers mixes fast-paced racing, destructive weapons and cool customization. The Multi-Challenge Races gives you a variety of race types to try. Four-player support extends the game's replay value.
