This game was one of the comparatively rare titles which ran in Windows 3.x but not DOS
Development
Dynamix had the original contract from FASA to make
MechWarrior. Then when the FASA contract expired, Dynamix was bought by Sierra Online, and FASA went to Activision for
MechWarrior II. However, the guys at Dynamix wanted to continue making 'Mech games, so they started the
Earthsiege series. The same thing happened with Activision, because FASA worked with MicroProse on
Starsiege, and Activision started their own 'Mech series,
Heavy Gear.
