Earthworm Jim 3D

Besluit? Earthworm Jim flikt het toch maar weer! Goed, er zitten wat ergerlijke "randjes" aan, maar zelfs als je die meerekent, blijft dit een platformspel dat alle liefhebbers van het genre uren aan hun scherm zal kleven. Trouwens, als alle computerspellen ons zo aan het lachen zouden krijgen als dit, zou de wereld een schoner oord om te leven worden! Dus als je't mij vraagt: snel Rayman 2 uitspelen, en dan zeker de worm in huis halen!

Als men het camerawerk beter uitgewerkt zou hebben, had dit echt de shit kunnen zijn. Nu is Earthworm Jim 3D een af en toe ronduit frustrerende game, en dat verdient deze zieke worm eigenlijk niet.

De Worm is terug en deze keer is hij op zoek naar zijn geheugen, of op zoek in zijn geheugen, of wacht... hoe ging het ook alweer, het was iets met knikkers...

Een absoluut originele, zeer wacky, soms zeer leuke en af en toe ronduit irritante 3D platform game.

Finally... the game is interesting it does have an air of recognizable humor and funny situations, but if you do give $30 be prepared to give it sufficient quantities of time and nerves as well. Obligatory for hard-core fans.

Ты уж не отчаивайся, выбирайся из своего безумного мозга. И тогда, глядишь, через годик-другой выйдет про тебя и четвертая часть. Возмужаешь, окрепнешь, похорошеешь... Там и встретимся. А пока, не поминай лихом, передаю тебя в руки благодарных поклонников, которые выведут твое волевое эго на чистую воду, и помогут ему обрести себя.

Pros: Funny as hell; Colorful, imaginative graphics; Complex plot; Have to use deductive reasoning to "solve" puzzles and situations. Beer goes very well with this game Cons: At times, graphics look like a cross between N64 & PC.

As I said earlier, I have very mixed feelings about this game. Even though this is the umteenth 3D-platform game to hit the market in the past X number of months, the concept, characters, and originality of it really make it an incredibly entertaining game to watch. Unfortunately the bad camera angles and the fact that you can’t see where you’re going a good portion of the time really take away from the game’s fun and playability factor. This game would be great as a movie, but unfortunately the developers seem to have forgotten the number one thing that makes a great game -- control and playability. I would have loved to give this game a score in the high 80’s simply based on originality, but due to the amount of frustration involved with control and view issues and that it plays like virtually every other 3D-platform game out there, I can only give it a 74.

Spielwitz, Grafik, Animation der Figuren, Umfang: alles cool! Doch dann spielt man und dreht wegen der betonmäßig blöden Kamera fast durch. Leute: Schaut Euch doch mal Perlen wie Rayman oder auch Zelda auf dem Nintendo 64 an. Die haben nämlich gezeigt, wie so was richtig gemacht wird. Damit wir uns nicht falsch verstehen: Earthworm Jim 3D ist spaßig. Aber eben nicht so sehr wie es auf Grund seines Potenzials hätte sein können. Schade! Ich hätte gern einen weiteren Kandidaten vom Kaliber des Rayman im Programm.

Earthworm Jim 3D est un jeu complètement loufoque, bourré d'humour, dans l'esprit de la série. Malheureusement, la jouabilité est un peu moyenne, et les graphismes ne sont pas exquis. En définitive, EWJ3D reserve de jolies surprises au cours du jeu, mais souffre en parallèle de problèmes divers qui font les grands jeux quant ils ne sont pas de la fête !

Earthworm Jim’s latest adventure is a mixed bag. It’s made the leap to 3D and still manages to stay true to the cartoon style gameplay we’ve become accustomed too in previous Earthworm Jim titles. The audio remains clever and witty, the gameplay imaginative and creative, but the graphics are bland and uninspiring. There’s a lot of fun to be had in a game like this, but it all gets ruined by the horrendous camera angles. Unless you can master the use of the camera, especially during action sequences, you might want to leave old Earthworm Jim in his wormhole.

Kommen Jump&Runs wieder in Mode? Es scheint fast so - nachdem Ubi Soft mit Rayman und Tonic Trouble gleich zwei Mal gut vorgelegt hat, schickt Interplay jetzt nach mehreren Verzögerungen endlich den alten Kämpfer Earthworm Jim ins Rennen. Vor vier Jahren erblickte er zum ersten Mal das Licht der Spielewelt: Der Regenwurm Jim, der sich gelegentlich auch in einen Superhelden verwandelte und eine Vorliebe für das Werfen von Kühen hatte, entwickelte sich innerhalb kurzer Zeit zu einer Art Kultfigur.

Although I was a big fan of the cartoon and the earlier titles, I found Earthworm Jim 3D to be solidly constructed, yet rather unengaging. I laughed out loud at several points, but found myself groaning when I discovered that the twisted humor was just setting up another puzzle where I had to find more switches to flip. In the end, Earthworm Jim 3D lacks innovation, something that defined the character from the beginning. Fans of Jim's exploits will enjoy it, but gamers looking for new experiences will be disappointed.

Bof ! Même si l’esprit d’Earthworm Jim est là, c’est tout ce qui sauve ce soft d’aller dans les profondeurs du système de notation. Graphiquement et techniquement, on est bien loin de ce que peut faire la console, pire, de ce qui s’est déjà fait dessus.

If you can't get enough of the inane humor found in the Earthworm Jim series, or you are just thrilled by the idea of your favorite superhero having been upgraded to the world of 3D, then by all means, run out and buy this game. Personally, I far prefer the 2D games in the series. They seemed fresher and more exciting, and there are no camera issues. Even so, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a fairly good time playing Earthworm Jim 3D -- at least in two- and three-hour stretches.

Schade, vom skurrilen Humor und coolen Leveldesign des ersten und zweiten Teils ist in der 3D-Variante kaum noch etwas zu sehen. Statt dessen verschreckt Interplays Earthworm Jim 3D potentielle Fans mit nerviger Kameraführung, langweiligen Sprungpassagen und schwacher Grafik. Einzig in den Duellen gegen die Levelbosse schimmert noch ein Rest der alten Spritzigkeit durch.

Instead, Earthworm Jim 3D has something to discourage all types of people from playing it. Fans of the series will be disappointed by the lackluster translation of the characters into three dimensions. Everyone else will be frustrated by the horrible camera. The game's few pleasures are not worth the laborious task of unearthing them.
