Egypt 1156 B.C.: Tomb of the Pharaoh

I recommend this game to history buffs and fans of the Cryo historical series. Other adventure gamers beware.

Egypt is a conventional first-person adventure game with appealing graphics and a whole lot of information about its subject. While it provides a decent, if not particularly memorable, gaming experience, it does not entirely succeed in bringing ancient Egypt to life.

It goes without saying that this isn't for everybody; certainly if all you care about is who you're going to shoot next, the pace of Egypt will drive you insane. Even the occasional opportunity to hit a snake with a stick doesn't detract from the core of the game: an adventure which takes itself very seriously.

Un jeu d'aventure correct, malheureusement très peu maniable si vous n'avez pas de souris. Les Egyptologues en herbe et les amateurs d'histoire en général se rueront dessus. Les fans d'aventure apprécieront peut-être. Mais, les autres essaieront impérativement avant d'acheter.

Das Grab des Pharao ist durch die originalgetreuen Grafiken, den Erkundungsmodus und die zahlreichen Literaturauszüge ein lehrreiches Programm. Auch Grafikfanatiker werden an dem Spiel von Ravensburger Interactive ihre Freude haben. Wer jedoch ein fesselndes Adventure mit schweren und dennoch logischen Rätseln sucht oder einen spannungsgeladenen Handlungsverlauf mit Verzweigungen erwartet, sollte einen Bogen um das Spiel machen.

So löblich der Ansatz auch sein mag, Bildung und Spielspaß zu verquicken, der Funke will einfach nicht überspringen. Die Rätsel beschränken sich auf oft durchlittene Standardkost, die Gespräche sind erstens inhaltlich langweilig, und zweitens sehen die 3D-Köpfe mit marginaler Lippenbewegung ärmlich aus. Und was die Hintergrund- Infos betrifft: Reine Edutainment- Titel bieten da wesentlich mehr.

This one certainly won't challenge experienced players and I would even hesitate to recommend it for novices as it's not really all that inspiring. It more or less plods along and, apart from a few mildly interesting problems, there's not much substance to it.

Despite the technical problems that I encountered with Egypt 1156 BC, the other issues, including a frustrating navigation system, confusing puzzles, weak dialogue, and poorly-defined characters made playing an exercise in frustration. With the exception of its intriguing setting, this title's many flaws make it difficult to recommend for anyone who's not fanatic about the history of ancient Egypt.

Irgendwie scheint über all den Adventures ums alte Ägypten der Fluch des Pharao zu schweben. Jedenfalls ist auch dieses Grababenteuer mit seiner sterilen Grafik eher ein Hort miefiger Langeweile als prickelnder Spannung. Zwar fällt die detailverliebte Grafik positiv ins Gewicht. Die 360-Grad-Ansicht birgt jedoch mehr Nachteile als Vorzüge.

This is a very somber and overly serious little game. Egypt 1156 explores ground covered by a number of other, better-built, games, including Riddle of the Sphinx and Secrets of the Luxor. My suggestion is you pick up one of those, where they can be found, and skip this one. Unless, of course, you'd like to spin around in a dark, frustrating country populated by strangely identical but unrelated men.

Egypt 1156 is an edutainment title that exhaustively recreates the culture and environment of ancient Egypt in partnership with Reunion des Musees Nationaux. There is an expansive companion documentary zone to further study aspects touched upon by the game. It boasts good-looking cutscenes that are one of the highlights of the game. It also has beautiful, exotic music. These are the best features of the game. The rest of it is mediocre at best, agonizingly bad at worst.

Egypt 1156 B.C.: Tomb of the Pharaoh is one of the many edutainment games created by French game developer Cryo before they shuttered. Like each of Cryo's other edutainment games, Egypt is a short history lesson couched in an adventure game setting. In this game, the head of the Madji (think ancient Egyptian police force) asks you, Ramose, to help him find those responsible for a break-in of one of the Pharaoh's tombs. However, you have another reason besides being a perennial do-gooder to help. In fact, it appears that your father is the prime suspect, and you have just three days, before a major religious festival starts, to prove your father's innocence.

The pyramids and everything about the Egyptian culture has always fascinated me. So the fact that I would actually be able to "Raid A Real Tomb" while playing a computer game was something I couldn't pass up. I eagerly anticipated examining hieroglyphic drawings, opening sarcophagi and finding precious artifacts while solving the mysteries of ancient Egypt.
