Eliminator

Er valt eigenlijk weinig op deze fraaie 3D shooter aan te merken. Eliminator levert gewoon precies wat de producent je belooft. Bergen uitdagende knalfun.

Eliminator ziet er prima uit en laat zich gemakkelijk bedienen maar eht biedt verder weinig plezier. Arena na arena robots kapotknallen heeft zo zijn beperkingen. Ook de two-player optie maakt niet veel goed.

Is er dan werkelijk niks positiefs te vernoemen over dit spel? Toch wel! Na al die toppers op 3D gebied de afgelopen weken, is dit eindelijk weer eens een spel dat de nachtrust ten goede komt.

Eliminator ist ein Spiel für Blindkäufer, die sich mit dem Erwerb des Spiels ordentlich reinlegen lassen und als Bonus aus ihrem Fehler lernen. Denn so sehr sich das Spiel bemüht - es kommt einfach kein Spielspaß auf, weder in den ersten paar Minuten, noch nach zwei Stunden. Dazu trägt neben den Bitmaps auch das Leveldesign bei, das in etwa denselben optischen Reiz wie ein Leichenschauhaus versprüht.

Psygnosis' Eliminator takes place in a future we all know very well at this point: a dark one, where enemies of the state compete to give viewing pleasure to the masses. The masses are starved for entertainment, you know, as you will be if you pick up or rent this game.

This game is not fun, it is just repetitive. I expected slightly better things from this game due to the high quality of games like it that have been recently released (i.e DethKarz). If you’re looking for car fighting and high quality graphics, get DethKarz. If your looking to increase the number of titles in your Psygnosis collection, pick this one up. Otherwise stay away.

Over the years I have been a game reviewer, I have learned to become highly suspicious of hype and overpromotion from the companies developing and distributing digital recreation. Many times I have received elaborate publicity material on a title, describing it as the very best of its kind, only to discover after playing it myself that I was dealing with a real dud. In the worst cases, I look at what is being said about a release and scratch my head in utter disbelief.

Psygnosis is on a strange kick, one that eludes us here at IGNPSX. When a game such as Colony Wars: Vengeance appears, and then within a few months, Eliminator arrives, you have to wonder who is making the calls. The first is a stunner, a great deep game, and the second, well, it's a simple, shoot-'em-up with the skin deep gameplay and simplistic design.

Schöne Grafik oder alles andere, was ein Actionspiel spielenswert macht – mit bemerkenswerter Konsequenz haben die Entwickler es vermieden, auch nur eines dieser Elemente ordentlich in ihrem Werk einzubauen.

Unfortunately, Eliminator has none of the finesse of either Tunnel B1 or Forsaken and is a failure in almost every department. Graphically it does nothing new, musically it's bland, and gameplay-wise you're bound to tire of it after just a few hours' play. All in all, the whole thing looks like a poor PlayStation conversion. Avoid.
