Face crazy curves, hairpin turns, and daredevil jumps as you race toward the checkered flag and the Excitebike championship. Race against the clock or challenge an opponent. You must keep your bearings as you fly through the air, and avoid getting clipped by other racers. Stay cool under pressure or your bike will overheat. If you get tired of racing on the circuit, create your own course in Design mode. There you have access to all the ramps, mounds, bridges, and other obstacles Excitebike has to offer.

    • Five challenging tracks
    • Track design mode
    • Race against time or other computer bikers

In the 1980s, few things were extreme. Maybe traffic in Los Angeles and jalapeno peppers, but that was it. Now that everything and its tattooed dog are Xtreme, Nintendo has rereleased the granddaddy of high-flying, knee-scraping, body-tumbling racing games: Excitebike. You can have a dirt-track date with high-revving racing thanks to the NES Classics series.

The concept is simple: Go fast and win. That's easier said than done. Your biker must keep his bearings as he's flying through the air, avoid getting clipped by other racers and stay cool under pressure or his bike will overheat. If you fall off the bike, mash the A and B Buttons to make your racer run back to the bike.

Tired of racing on the circuit? Make your own course in Design mode. Here, you have access to all the ramps, mounds, bridges and other obstacles Excitebike has to offer. The save function lets you hang on to your high scores and track design for all the world to see and envy. Send a picture to Ricky Carmichael of your best time and a note reading, "Call me if you want some lessons." On second thought, scrap that idea and just enjoy the return of Excitebike.

    Bottom Line

Don't try to be Evel Knievel out there. Broken bones might build up your street cred, but in Excitebike, the finish line is where the glory's at.

    REVENGE AT THE MOTORCROSS

Your objective is revenge against your old adversary, Arch Rivale, who humiliated you at the last Excitebike race. You can still hear his taunting laughter as he rode over your foot, flattening it like a road bunny. Will you finally have your revenge? Or will Arch Rivale have the last laugh? Again.
