F1 racen is in een nieuw tijdperk beland. Na het uitstekende F1 Racing Championship, toont EA Sports met F1 2000 aan dat alle overige F1 games in de pit kunnen blijven staan. F1 2000 scoort vanwege ijzersterke sound, graphics en besturing het hoogste cijfer dat ik ooit aan een F1 game uitdeelde.

What a week! Talk about highs and lows. After enduring the god'am awful F1 World GP I never wanted to see another Formula 1 racer again in my entire life. Then I had to trudge through the dreary Cricket 2000 from EA Sports. So what shows up next day? You guessed it... F1 2000... from EA Sports. Typical! But all is not lost... it's brilliant! This title will sit proudly at the top of the tree with the best of them, that includes your Gran Turismo's and Ridge Racer's. Don't dare fail to check this one out. You'll miss out on a real corker. What a breath of fresh air from the EA Sports team. My faith has been restored.

De concurrentie is buitenspel gezet, want wie kan er weerstand bieden aan een racegame met een 2000 licentie, een zeer sterke simulatie van het F1-racen, een strakke besturing en een swingende interface. Ik in ieder geval niet, I'am hooked.

If we look at F1 2000 overall we will find that the team at EA Sports has made an overwhelming debut. Sure, the official backing of the F1A has helped them to build such an impressive product, but their knowledge of sports software has stood them in good stead to apply their expertise comprehensively. As well as the pick-up-and-play quality of a good F1 racer, F1 2000 has a depth that will appeal to the hardest of F1 fans.

Aangezien GP3 er nog lang niet is, staat F1 2000 al met 1-0 voor. De gameplay is zeer realistisch en ook voor newbies is dit spel goed te spelen. Alles tot in de details uitgewerkt, de graphics zijn meer dan in orde en het geluid is perfect. Dit spel is echt tot in de puntjes verzorgd, zoals alle EA games. Ondanks dat dit de eerste F1 game van EA is, is deze game een echte must-have voor de F1 fans. Eigenlijk voor iedereen die F1 niet haat! Toppie toppie dus!

Op de nogal teleurstellende weergave van de omgeving na is deze F1 2000 een zeer geslaagd debuut van Electronic Arts in nog maar eens een andere sporttak.

Heb je een joekel van een systeem en hou je van F1, dan is F1 2000 gewoon een must have!

If your system can handle the game, then you'll find that it's one of the best F1 racing sims to date.

After Nascar 2000 quite disappointed me, I was wondering what F1 2000 would be like since that another racer by Electronic Arts, and believe it or not... I love it !

Ein ambitioniertes Unterfangen: Kann EA mit F1 2000 gegen Altmeister Geoff Crammond und Grand Prix 3 bestehen? F1 2000 besitzt als einziges Spiel die offizielle Lizenz für die Formel-1-Saison 2000 und ermöglicht es somit exklusiv, die neue Rennstrecke in Indianapolis zu testen. Außerdem ist Wiedereinsteiger BMW mit Ralf Schumacher mit von der Partie, ebenso wurden Heinz-Harald Frentzen im aktuellen Postauto von Jordan sowie alle aktuellen änderungen bei Teams, Fahrern und Sponsoren berücksichtigt.

Overall, F1 2000 isn't a bad game by any means. If you're an F1 fan, go give it a rental and see if it floats your boat. But make sure that you've already added Psygnosis' Formula One '99 to your library first or you'll really be missing out.

EVER SINCE THE PLAYSTATION was first released Psygnosis have been responsible for some of the best moments the console has had in the past. These moments include the Formula One series of racing games, the latest of which is imaginatively entitled Formula One 2000. With an excellent benchmark to work upon in the previous games of the series it's quite hard to go wrong when you're already responsible for the best Formula One game available for the PlayStation, so it's nice to see Psygnosis have still got what it takes.

Overall, EA Sports' F1 2000 is a solid title. While it isn't the definitive F1 racing game we were hoping for, it certainly plays well, looks decent, and offers more than enough options and racing modes to keep fans of the virtual F1 racing circuit happy for quite some time. In comparison with other F1 titles for the PlayStation, such as Video Systems' F1 World Grand Prix, F1 2000 is a much more enjoyable racing game.

F1 2000 n’est pas un mauvais jeu, car il est complet, propose tout ce qui se fait dans un jeu de Formule 1 digne de ce nom, avec réglages de voiture etc. etc. On peut regretter un graphisme un peu confus qui ne permet pas vraiment de voir arriver les virages en vue intérieure, et enfin une animation plus fluide n’aurait pas été un luxe. Un jeu grand public honorable.

Aua, wie kann mir EA Sports nur so etwas antun? Da hofft man auf einen Formel-1-Knaller und bekommt stattdessen eine veraltet wirkende Halb-Simulation vorgesetzt. Echt genervt hat mich die KI der Gegner. Selbst bei 100 Prozent Intelligenzlevel krachen sie fast schon mutwillig in meine Kiste. Dagegen ist Eddie Irvine ein echter Waisenknabe. Ebenfalls verhunzt wurde das Fahrverhalten, immerhin der Kern eines jeden Rennspiels: Viel zu nervös, vom gewaltigen Grip eines echten Formel-1-Boliden ist wenig zu spüren. Das fühlt sich selbst bei 35 Grad im Schatten an, als würde man auf Eis fahren – wohl der Ausgleich für das nicht eingebaute Wetter. Da mag dann auch das Setup-Menü das bislang komplexeste im Genre sein – beim Großteil der tiefergehenden Einstellungen spürt man trotzdem so gut wie keine Unterschiede. Bleibt als großer Pluspunkt eigentlich nur die 2000er Lizenz übrig. Trotz all der Schwächen ein nicht zu unterschätzender Kaufgrund, leider.

Eine in vielen Beziehungen unausgereifte Formel-1-Simulation wird von EA Sports schnell auf den Markt geschmissen, um dem übermächtigen Gegner Grand Prix 3, der in wenigen Monaten erscheinen wird, zuvorzukommen. Und das Traurige daran: Das Konzept ist aufgegangen. Fast alle wichtigen Testmagazine erhielten eine Version erst, als das Spiel bereits zum Verkauf im Laden stand, in den Charts steht das Programm im Moment auf Platz 2. Wir hoffen, Sie konnten sich noch bis zu unserem Test gedulden. Eins ist auf jedem Fall klar: Der Vergleich mit Geoff Crammonds bevorstehendem Meisterwerk ist niemals einer gewesen, sondern nur eine Marketing-Idee, mit der man unverdiente Aufmerksamkeit erhaschen wollte. Wie würden Sie das nennen: Raffiniert oder böswillig?
