F1 World Grand Prix

Cette qualité de réalisation se retrouve aussi heureusement dans les graphismes de F1 WGP. Doté d'un moteur 3D bien plus lourd qu'auparavant, il permet en tout cas une précision graphique redoutable. Les circuits sont magnifiques avec une finesse de texture dont mes yeux ont peine à se remettre. Les décors, les animations des voitures ou encore tous les petits détails comme les étincelles, fumées et traces de pneus sont un vrai bonheur. De très nombreuses caméras sont disponibles et elles ont toute cette particularité d'offrir une vue imprenable et parfaite pour les montées d'adrénaline avec bien sûr une impression de vitesse phénoménale en vue ras du sol ou encore un prix spécial pour la vue dans le casque du pilote avec reflets. Un peu trop lourd, il vous faudra tout de même une sacrée machine pour profiter pleinement de la jubilation graphique qu'est F1 World Grand Prix.

Ultimately, this is the F1 simulation for 'normal' people who want the thrills of F1 without the steep learning curve of more hardcore simulations. The feature set ensures that these users will enjoy racing, while the graphics are dazzlingly good, particularly on cutting edge hardware. The cost of all this is that the car is harder to 'feel' and the driving model feels more canned, making car control easier than it really is in several ways. Nonetheless, the game will get a fair amount of my time along with F1 2000 while I wait to see what Geoff Crammond and Co. at Hasbro come up with in Grand Prix 3. One thing is for sure, though: we are far better off in terms of the quality of the released F1 simulations than we have been in recent years, so there should be a game for everyone.

F1 World Grand Prix is by no means a poorly made game - it's just a bad representation of real-life F1 racing, especially compared with EA's earlier F1 2000. Furthermore, because Hasbro's Grand Prix 3 looms on the horizon and stands to continue the tradition of excellence set forth by its predecessor, F1 World Grand Prix can't be recommended to fans of the sport.

Formel-1-Spiele auf dem PC lassen sich normalerweise in zwei Kategorien einteilen: schraubengenaueSimulationen mit hohem spielerischen Anspruch und unkomplizierte Rasertitel, die es mit der Realitätstreue nicht ganz so genau nehmen. F1 World Grand Prix versucht den Spagat zwischen diesen beiden Modellen und bietet sowohl einen Arcade- als auch einen Simulationsmodus.

F1 WGP laat het op de PlayStation behoorlijk afweten en kan zich ook niet meten met een direkte concurrent als Formula One 99. Ligt 't nu echt aan mij of deugt de besturing werkelijk voor geen meter?

F1 World Grand Prix komt tekort op teveel verschillende fronten. Een afrader.

Laat maar liggen deze game en bewaar je geld voor Grand Prix 3, dat is de echte shit. F1 World Grand Prix is slechts interessant in de budgetbak.

Bereits vor einem Jahr hatte Eidos beim Hersteller Lankhor ein Formel-1-Spiel bestellt. Obwohl sich eigentlich alle Testmagazine einig waren, dass die sonstige Eidos-Qualität bei weitem unterschritten wurde, verkaufte sich der Titel nicht übel. Und da Verkaufserfolg noch allemal vor Produktqualität geht, wurde prompt ein Nachfolger geordert. Der fährt sich lediglich einen Hauch besser, hat aber dafür einen schicken Vorspann, mit dem man Marketing-Fritzen und Spiele-Laien prachtvoll beeindrucken kann. Bleibt zu hoffen, dass das Spiel diesmal in den Regalen liegenbleibt. Sonst seh' ich schon voller Grauen den nächsten Aufguß heranstottern.

Nettes Intro, nix dahinter. Wie frech (oder einfach nur blind) muss man sein, um alten Schrott ein Jahr später fast unverändert wieder anzubieten? Seit dem erschreckend schwachen Official F1 Racing hat Lankhor lediglich die Grafik ordentlich aufgebohrt. Das Renngeschehen dagegen krankt immer noch an denselben Symptomen: F1-unwürdiges Fahrzeughandling, seltsames Crash-Verhalten, kaum erkennbare KI, wirre Menüs. Damit hat es Eidos geschafft, selbst EA Sports’ enttäuschendes F1 2000 noch mal locker zu unterbieten.

In the end, F1 World Grand Prix's inconsistent frame rate prevents the game from being playable. While one certainly can appreciate all of the simulation options that the game has to offer; the gameplay and graphics simply don't back it up, and what results is a total mess.

Cette note est encore un peu trop gentille peut-être, car RIEN (sauf le son) n'est bon dans F1 World Grand Prix ! Le graphisme est purement crade, l'animation impensable pour une PSX et la jouabilité excécrable. Ah ! heureusement que les testeurs de jeux vidéo existent pour éviter au consommateur de perdre toute sa thune dans des atrocités pareilles, et pour lui dire d'acheter les yeux fermer un jeu comme Formula One 99. Merci qui ? :o)
