Simply put, if you own Fallout 3 and have access to the online marketplace, you need Broken Steel. For all you Fallout DLC hungry PS3 owners who are planning on getting the rest of the packs, Bethesda kicked it off right by raising the level cap right off the bat. Whether you actually do end up getting all the DLC, or can only choose one, just make sure you get Broken Steel.

This is without doubt the best DLC to date, and it makes the anticipation for the next two pieces of content that have just been announced even greater. After creating this masterpiece, Bethesda has a mighty task creating something just as good. I can’t recommend Broken Steel highly enough. If you have Fallout 3, you need Broken Steel to go with it.

Providing players the broadest DLC quest line yet, new weapons, new enemies, and ten more levels to gain, Broken Steel is worth every penny you'll pay to download it, and is recommend for both newcomers to Fallout 3 and veterans alike. Broken Steel's additions to the game will continue to be felt and enjoyed long after the 4-5 hour storyline is complete. Wastelanders, get out there and crush the Enclave!

Broken Steel certainly changes the game for the better and is a must buy for all Fallout 3 owners. Even the subtle changes to normal characters in the Wasteland are noticeable such as those slackers in Megaton who complain about the water. Bottom Line is that there is much to explore, must to experience and much to disintegrate in the game and this is why the final score is so high for the expansion. It’s the best DLC we have seen in a long time for any content on any platform for any game.

All in all, Broken Steel winds up being a great diversion and a good excuse to re-visit the Capitol Wastelands. Between the continuation of the storyline, the tougher enemies, and the great amount of action given, it's well worth the $10 to take a ride with the Brotherhood of Steel one more time.

Broken Steel suffers from many of the problems the original game did (I encountered some hilarious bugs and glitches, as well as some not so hilarious game crashes) and some that seem endemic to Bethesda (the PC version was broken (ahem) on release). This, coupled with the disappointing new perks prevents the add-on from a perfect score. But, overall, Broken Steel can't be considered anything other than an excellent addition to the Fallout 3 universe. Put simply, if you love Fallout 3, Broken Steel is an essential purchase.

You really should not have had to pay for Broken Steel. It should’ve been included on the original release, but it’s so worth it. The slight changes due to fresh water, a few other little secrets here and there that I do not want to spoil, new missions, new level cap; is all worth it. The Wasteland is now almost perfect to play through, and I am sucked in yet again to a world I have grown to love.

Xbox 360Worth Playing
Broken Steel does a great job of both extending the Fallout story a bit longer and creating incentive to keep playing even after you've "beaten" the game. The only real downsides are that the same ending cinematic still plays after you finish the stopping point of the main game, proclaiming the "end of the story of the lone wanderer" even though you wake up two weeks later and keep right on adventuring. Also, the difficulty level may be a bit of a shock to some players, as there are some incredibly hard moments for characters that aren't fully leveled and packing amazing equipment like the alien blaster. Still, the third time is truly the charm for Bethesda, as they have released what is an absolute must-own DLC pack for Fallout 3 fans. With the Tesla Cannon, increased level cap and great new perks, I think we can finally forgive them for the horse armor.

Basically if you have missed the wastelands, Broken Steel gives you more than enough reasons to return. Keeping with the high quality set by the original, Broken Steel gives you more engrossing content for up to five hours of gameplay, whilst increasing the story behind the game whilst removing the full stop.

With a solid new campaign, an improved level cap, dozens of new perks and tons of powerful weapons at your disposal, Broken Steel is hands down some of the best content Fallout 3 has to offer. With two previous add-ons already giving fans plenty to explore, Broken Steel really pushes the boundaries of what you can come to expect from future downloadable additions. This is the most complete and well-rounded addition to Fallout 3 yet, and anyone can expect to spend hours relishing in what it has to offer.

As far as add-ons are concerned, Broken Steel is by far the best one to come along for Fallout 3 since The Pitt. Feeling more like an extension of the main quest rather than a standalone side quest, the battle to eradicate the Enclave once and for all is just the right ticket for Fallout 3 fans.

If you own the game, you'd do well to grab this. It expands the story very well. You can play on through the Wastes now, despite how you were treated by Bethesda at the end of the original experience, and you're rewarded for doing so. Here's hoping this isn't the definitive end of Fallout 3 as we know it though, because there's still so much to do and see.

It's rare that DLC simultaneously benefits the original game and expands upon in it a way that's satisfying for those that already finished the game, but Broken Steel does precisely that. Familiar though it may be, this DLC is an absolute must.

Lifting the level cap breathes new life into a great game, but shouldn't totally overshadow a new series of quests that is a lot of fun. By extending the game beyond the main quest, Bethesda has delivered exactly what the fans have been asking for. Broken Steel offers more than enough reasons to justify the $10 price tag.

Steel is a great push forward in downloadable content, allowing gamers to continue with their epic quest along the Wasteland rather than restarting the game. I really hope that this is not the last of the Fallout 3 DLC as I am hoping for more returns to the great Wasteland. How about revisiting some old haunts and meeting some old faces with ongoing stories following Steel?

No Fallout 3 fan should miss Broken Steel, especially if you have been holding out on Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt because you have already reached the level cap. For the same price as the first two DLC packs ($10), not only does it have as much content as the first two packs combined, but it also changes the main game for the better. However, the less than mediocre perks list and the added instability blemish what would have been the perfect add-on to an already incredible package. But don’t let that stop you from getting one of the finest examples of downloadable content that other developers should emulate.

Broken Steel does well in continuing the story left off with Fallout 3. The new enemies make the game a lot tougher for those that found it getting easy near the end of the game. The level increase is a nice welcome and it's great that you can now continue the game past the end. Overall, a solid DLC that is worth your time and money.

If you’re a fan of Fallout 3 and also a PlayStation 3 owner there really isn’t much reason to pass on Broken Steel. The new story quests alone will take several hours to complete, plus the new side-quests and you still have the increased level cap which should keep you occupied long beyond this first batch of DLC. It’s somewhat disappointing that there isn’t a whole lot of new terrain to explore over the course of the new missions but it’s unlikely you ever saw everything the Capital Wasteland had to offer in the first place. Now get back out there, the wasteland misses you.

The final battle will change the landscape for your character going forward. Like the original ending, the option you choose has an impact on how you are perceived in the world from then on out. There are plenty of things to do, and even though I only made it to level 24, thanks in large part to my playing the other DLC first and not earning any experience from it, “Broken Steel” was well worth the investment. Truth be told, I can’t remember the last time I put 80+ hours into a single-player game. I know I’m going back in for more as well, but I think this time I’ll try playing the DLC in reverse order. Whether you’ve played through the other two downloadable packs, or you’ve been waiting them out in favor of “Broken Steel,” this new addition is well worth the time and money. Hopefully there’s more to come, but even if there isn’t, at least Bethesda gave gamers a much more satisfying conclusion for their character.

In a nutshell that's the Broken Steel downloadable content. The value is apparent when looking over what the Broken Steel content has to offer, and more than just extra content, Bethesda went above the call of duty to figure out how to fix a few of the major complaints with the original game. This makes Broken Steel a must-have for gamers who can't get enough of Fallout 3. Fallout 3 is an excellent title already, and now with three additional motives to get back into the grungy atmosphere of the Wasteland, it's hard to say no. Out of all the content that has been released for Fallout 3, Broken Steel is by far the most valuable. So if you still want more life out of Fallout 3, pick up this perk and continue your travels in the wasteland.

For a few obvious reasons, Broken Steel is a must-have for serious Fallout 3 players. This doesn't mean it's perfect. After the great changes in settings found in the past two expansions, the third installment feels like old hat in the visual department. That said, there are certainly some cool things to see, fun things to do, great weapons to pick up, and interesting places to explore. Altogether, DLC number three is a no-brainer.

It’s just a shame that everyone will have to pay for this level cap, especially since PlayStation 3 owners won’t even see this DLC unless Bethesda change their minds. However, those with the ability to shell out will find a long and difficult new batch of quests - including a few side quests - as well as a way to get a hold of some cool new perks, weapons, armour and of course, achievements. Put simply, Broken Steel is the most complete piece of DLC for Fallout 3 so far, and the one most worth purchasing. Even after you’ve finished the extended campaign there’s plenty to go back to with the new level cap, including a way for all you dog lovers to bring Dogmeat back from the dead - Awww.

Broken Steel doesn't fuss too much with the existing formula, but it does provide more adventure that easily lives up to the high standards set by Fallout 3. Highly recommended.

Xbox 360Game Over Online
The bottom line here is that Broken Steel is more Fallout 3, and if you’re a fan that can’t possibly be a bad thing. Like with the other DLC, the story will probably only take you a few hours to go through and then you’re left with the goodies. The weapons are decent, the enemies mostly annoying, and the perks borderline useless, but…jacking the level cap up to 30 is a godsend, making Broken Steel and absolute must buy for any dedicated wasteland wanderer. For those less hard core, your mileage may vary.

Xbox 360Game Critics
As far as criticism goes, the only issues I see are small ones. For example, it was disappointing to confirm that the game had not been keeping track of the experience points I had theoretically "earned" after hitting the level cap and playing through the last two add-ons. Besides that quibble, there don't seem to be many locations in the wasteland where people recognize that the events at the endgame have changed. I can only imagine the magnitude of work re-jiggering that much dialogue would have involved so I'm not really holding it against Bethesda, but I have to admit that it felt a bit hollow. That said, those are extremely minor concerns—Broken Steel is an absolute necessity for any Fallout 3 player and certainly justifies the cost of the download.

Xbox 360GameSpot
Broken Steel ends by offering you a single decision that could lead to far-reaching consequences for the Capitol wasteland. Fallout 3 is at its best when your own actions have noticeable impact on the world around you, which is what makes this add-on so great. It's like a microcosm of Fallout 3's best features and only blemished by storytelling that doesn't always make sense. Filled with intense combat and excellent new features, Broken Steel is a great value at 800 Microsoft points ($10).

Even without a dedicated cinematic at the end, Fallout 3: Broken Steel leaves the bunker blast door open for players to continue their travels for as long as they want to. With solid quests adding flavor to the endgame and with new ways with which to scratch your itchy trigger finger while Perking out your Monty Haul avatar, fans who haven't gotten their fill of Rad Away, Nuka-Cola, and Fancy Lads Snack Cakes may find that this add-on might be as good a reason as any to head back into the wastes.

Xbox 360AceGamez
Some players might find themselves a bit miffed that the end of the game was essentially changed – or removed, rather, considering it now has no definite ending – but the fairly large amount of extra content added, as well as the overall change of mood throughout the Wasteland and the replay value presented, should be enough to keep most fans satisfied after paying a mere 800 points. If you’ve not tried out any of the expansions yet then I can highly recommend downloading Broken Steel to increase your level cap, then playing through Anchorage and The Pitt to make sure you get your experience points for those quests, as well as bringing any new gear you find to the Broken Steel campaign. Fallout 3: Broken Steel is easily the most robust offering yet, and though the locations don’t change drastically, the story, perks and new quests should be more than enough to satisfy most Wastelanders.

Even so, Broken Steel is an essential upgrade to Fallout 3 that any committed fan will want to grab immediately. If you've held out buying any DLC for the game so far, we'd advise you start with this before getting the others, because the process of acquiring new perks and skills will enrich the game no end. Sadly, for those of you who've kept up to date, you might want to consider going back to an old savegame before you played Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt to really make the most of what Bethesda has unlocked with this release.

Despite the raising of the level cap, we find it difficult to recommend Broken Steel – its shockingly unimaginative lean towards near constant shooting is remarkably unlike what we’ve come to know and love about the game. Moral ambiguity is lost under the pile of Enclave corpses you’ll undoubtedly leave in your wake, leaving us a rather two-dimensional, by the numbers shoot ‘em up instead.
