Overall, I really enjoyed Fatal Fury 2 on the SNES. While not quite as good as the original Neo Geo or the Genesis versions, it still remains a very solid 2D fighter. I would highly recommend this title if your either a fan of the series or if you've played Super Street Fighter 2 to death on the SNES. A great port of a great game. Good work Takara.

Fatal Fury 2 came off better than expected. This terrific translation offers all the fighters, all the moves and all the fund of the original arcade version. The control is absolutely flawless and the timing for all the special moves is precise. My only gripe would have to be the music, but it's not bad enough to warrant the volume being turned down. Overall, this is a great game and worthy of the original it came from.

Fatal Fury 2 is a great cart and a worthy follow-up to the original. It may be another SFII clone at it's heart, but it still does almost everything right.

Neo GeoAll Game Guide
Fatal Fury 2 is a good game, and is what the original Fatal Fury could have and should have been. Had this game been released the same year as Capcom's Street Fighter 2 instead of its predecessor, Capcom might not have had the years of dominance in fighting games that it enjoyed. We might think of Fatal Fury as the classic modern 2D fighting game instead of Street Fighter 2.

Fatal Fury 2 is a fistful of Genesis fighting fun, but be sure to play with a six-button controller. The only caveat to cost-conscious consumers: Something special for the SNES is due in the fall --- Fatal Fury Special. Whither the Genesis?

Unfortunately, Fatal Fury II was mostly overlooked — thanks to Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat — which is a crying shame, as this was one of the best fighters on the Genesis. The fact that it wasn't much of a financial success has made the game semi-rare though not very expensive find and it's worth a surf on eBay to locate a copy if you're a collector looking to round out your Genesis fighting game stock or a fighting game aficionado.

This is simply a lively entry overall, it just doesn't serve much purpose now years later with the incredible Fatal Fury Special also available. The roster would undergo massive changes and additions, leaving this to be the forgettable stepladder on SNK's way to mastery. It's certainly not without merit, and at the time, this would have been worth the outrageous price.

All the fighters, all the stages and extra options not in the arcade (like a speed setting) make this another fine conversion of a Neo Geo title. Little details (like the guy you can knock off the motorcycle in Kim Kaphwan's stage when you switch lines) are retained, as have the last-ditch finishing moves. However, the sounds could be improved (especially the dizzy sound effect and some of the voices). This is the type of game that can truly be appreciated with a 6-button controller. Excellent opening cinema, though.

Fatal Fury 2 is, overall, a focused fighter and a solid sequel that’s more worth your investment of 900 Wii Points than its predecessor was last year. The problem that plagues it and dampens its appeal is that there are many more sequels in the series yet to come, most of which render this game just as obsolete as it renders the first Fatal Fury. If the nine bucks isn’t that big of a deal to you, then absolutely download this edition and enjoy it. But if your Wii Shop budget’s a little bit tighter, still consider holding on to that digital cash and waiting for the inevitable arrival of the next, better version -– Fatal Fury Special or Fatal Fury 3 will certainly show up in the not-too-distant future. (The first of those is already available on Xbox Live Arcade, too.)

Since there's already been another sequel (Fatal Fury Special) in the arcades, it's hard to see this as a ground-breaking release. Definitely try before you buy; that way you'll know if it suits your tastes when there are so many other fighting games on the shelves.

If you love Fatal Fighters and you want more bang for your brawlin' buck, then hold out and wait for Fatal Fury Special, which contains everything this game doesn't - speed, combos and great graphics. Until then, scrape up the three bucks and head out to rent this one.

While Fatal Fury 2 still can't be considered on the level that Street Fighter 2 is, it does prove to be quite entertaining, and really a worthwhile play

Fatal Fury 2 marks a dramatic improvement over the original one-on-one fighter. There are only eight fighters, but you can choose from any of them. The animation is improved, and the background scenery is quite attractive. The controls have been revamped to include high and low kicks, high and low punches, and two additional attacks. Certain moves even let you to move between the foreground or background planes, giving the game a 3D element. The audio is still weak though, with muffled sound effects and tunes you won't find yourself singing in the shower. The main thing that struck me about Fatal Fury 2 is how similar it is to Street Fighter 2. Not only are the controls similar, but the overall presentation is a carbon copy, all the way down the to globe on the character select screen. And one last thing - could they come up with a less attractive group of fighters? I mean, there's only one female, and half of the characters are obese!
