FIFA MLS 2001 is truly the class of the crowd, and it is one of the top two or three sports titles released for the PC this year. While EA Sports continues to make the kinds of improvements to gameplay seen in this title, and packages it with the best graphics and sounds out there, there is really no point in buying any other soccer title. They’ve stayed true to soccer’s nickname: the beautiful game.

Пусть хоккей и футбол на разных полюсах, но сегодняшнее исполнение — выше чего-либо вне всякого сомнения. Если все пойдет такими темпами, то творческому коллективу AG придется вводить баллы выше 10. Или ужесточить требования. А что делать, если уже сейчас стройными рядами, один за другим, следуют 9,5 — практически максимальные оценки?

Nach zwei Hektik-Grätsch-Jahren hat sich EA Sports umorientiert in Richtung Simulation. Die 2001-Ausgabe kommt echten Fußballpartien verblüffend nahe - mit allen Vor- und Nachteilen. Ich finde Mittelfeld-Aufbau und engmaschige Abwehrreihen herausfordernd, verfluche aber meine schlechte Chancenauswertung. Schade, dass Feinheiten wie die Torwartstärke nicht frei einstellbar sind. Einsteiger und Action-Bolzer seien vor dem gereiften FIFA etwas gewarnt, Fußball-Feinschmeckern wird es umso besser munden. Spielerisch und grafisch macht die Serie dieses Jahr ein beherzten Schritt nach vorn.

FIFA 2001's visuals are also something to highly boast about, they certainly go down as being some of the best first generation PS2 graphics, with Madden NFL 2001, SSX, and Tekken Tag Tournament being the three best so far. Make sure that you give FIFA 2001 a look-see, especially if you are a sports or soccer fan, this is an absolute must have game.

Its not a perfect game, by any means. It is, however, the third excellent title to be released by EA Sports for the PS2, following Madden and SSX. If you're a fan of the series, newly interested in soccer (um, football), or simply looking for a top-notch title for your library, you can't go wrong with FIFA 2001.

FIFA 2001 is much more than just an annual rehash - it repairs whatever damage was done by last year's version, heads in a more authentic direction, and offers numerous new features. It is the first serious revision of the series in a number of years, and it can be described only as the best FIFA to date.

Depending on your bent, you either like FIFA or ISS, and frankly I like them both, and for obvious different reasons. However, this version of FIFA, despite its slight slant toward arcade-style "futbol" is really the very best of the FIFAs, period, and in fact, it's the best soccer game out for any system. Until Konami knocks out a Western version of ISS, Live World Soccer -- and if it truly defeats EA's very significant FIFA for the PS2 -- EA securely holds the axe. The level of challenge, complex plays, articulate animations, and overall smoothness of gameplay is simply superb. FIFA 2001 Major League Soccer comes with as a highly recommended soccer game and is a must-have game for the system.

O game continua mantendo o mesmo padrão de seus antecessores, porém apresenta mais de 250 estrelas do futebol mundial, incluindo grandes craques brasileiros. A falha cometida no licenciamento dos times brasileiros, que não apareceram na edição passada, foi corrigida com sucesso. Os treze melhores times nacionais estão presentes.

Soll ich nun lachen oder weinen? Oder soll ich aus Frust darüber, dass nun schon seit Jahren die ewig selben Macken drin sind, in die Luft gehen wie das HB-Männchen? Vielleicht soll ich mich sogar befriedigt zurücklehnen, weil das 2001er Fifa für den Gelegenheitsspieler das beste überhaupt ist? Irgendwie überwiegt doch der Ärger, zumal mir die schöne NHL-2001-Erinnerung noch frisch im Gedächtnis haftet. Welche Emotionen bei Ihnen geweckt werden, hängt deshalb ganz davon ab, was Sie bislang mit der Fifa-Reihe verband. Falls Sie nichts damit anfangen konnten, wird sich das dieses Jahr auch nicht ändern. Echten Cracks ist’s auch diesmal selbst im Allstar-Modus wieder zu einfach. Und falls Sie schon im Besitz der 2000er-Auflage sind, lohnt sich die Neuanschaffung nur für hartnäckiger Sammler.

Okay, FIFA 2001 ist die derzeit beste erhältliche Fußballsimulation und für Einsteiger sicher ein sehr gutes Produkt. Als langjähriger Fan der Serie nerven mich aber Jahr für Jahr die gleichen Schwächen, allen voran die nicht konfigurierbare Steuerung. Und noch immer die gleichen Tore wie in den beiden Vorgängerversionen? Klar, die Grafik und Animationen sind genial, aber spielerisch ist FIFA 2001 so innovationsarm wie ein Hera-Lind-Roman.

Bijna alle slechte kantjes uit FIFA 2000 zijn weggewerkt, het spel biedt meer eigenschappen dan ooit tevoren en het realiteitsgehalte wordt aanzienlijk de hoogte ingeduwd. Kortom, een knaller van een game!

Though there is some breakdown in rules, this program does succeed in translating the pace and abilities of the game onto the console screen. This is not arcade action, but rather nice, flowing game play with a solid options package.

The two British commentators add realism and stay on top of the action. They're occasionally hilarious, so be sure to crank up the commentator volume and turn down the crowd (why does EA always set the crowd noise so high?) The game doesn't have any major flaws. You can be just about any professional team in the world, and the game is fully customizable.

Verwacht geen revolutionaire vernieuwingen in deeltje zoveel van de FIFA serie. FIFA 2001 ziet er deze keer wel heel erg mooi uit en afgezien van de slordigheidjes is dit de beste FIFA game voorhanden.

När Fifa 99 och 2000 kom var de så snygga att vi klappade händerna av upphetsning. Nu kan vi erbjuda en artig golfapplåd. NHL 2001 kändes lite mer genomtänkt än 2001-versionen av FIFA. Slutligen ska det nämnas att FIFA 2001 är snyggt, bra, tufft och roligt. Vill ni ha det snyggaste fotbollsspelet tillgängligt just nu bör ni snöra på er fotbollsdojorna och löpa ner till butiken och skaffa er ett ex av FIFA 2001. Har ni inte FIFA 2000 eller EURO 2000 är inte valet så svårt. Men om ni har något av de båda får ni själva bedöma om det är värt 400 spänn för en uppdatering.

EA’s sports onslaught continues with FIFA 2001. For those of you who have followed the series, a good majority of the PS2 alterations are of a graphical nature. Along with enhanced animation, EA pumped hundreds of polys into the character models. The stadiums also harness the smallest of details. Shadows of the flags mounted on the top of the stadium are projected down onto the field, and the crowd is animated to be as rowdy as the real deal. The gameplay still fits like a glove, yet the AI has been tweaked to play a more aggressive game. With over 60 teams, and a wealth of interesting options, FIFA’s PS2 debut is powered by a mighty kick.

Een lust voor het oog, dat wel, maar kwa speelwijze is er nog steeds niet genoeg verbeterd om mij uitzinnig te krijgen. Redelijk happy, dat wel.

Podsumowując Fifę 2001 nie sposób pominąć błędów i niedociągnięć. Może warto było przełożyć premierę o kilka miesięcy na rzecz dopracowania szczegółów? Czyżby pośpiech miał być bezpośrednią przyczyną zguby? Pożyjemy, zobaczymy...

Une fois de plus un bon cru pour FIFA qui nous offre un titre d'actualité et à la réalisation très soignée. Le gameplay est tout à fait satisfaisant et le niveau de réalisme parfois surprenant, sans conteste, une réussite.

Diese Fortsetzung der Fußballreihe ist grafisch, wie auch spielerisch gut gelungen. Jeder Sportler sieht recht originalgetreu aus, und auch die Bewegungen sind recht realistisch. Die Ballphysik, wie auch die Handhabung, ist auf schnelles Gameplay ausgelegt und funktioniert gut.

Es macht uns einfach keinen Spaß mehr, jedes Jahr das gleiche Spiel vorgesetzt zu bekommen. Wenn auf der Packung schon Nichtigkeiten wie "aufeinander folgende Spielzeiten mit Aufstiegs- und Abstiegsmodus" oder "neue Steilpasstechniken" als verkaufsfördernde Features angebracht werden, weiß der Fan hoffentlich, was die Stunde geschlagen hat. Selbst wenn wirklich erneut Stars ins Motion-Capturing-Studio gebeten wurden, sieht man es FIFA 2001 nicht an. Die PlayStation ist technisch ausgereizt. Natürlich ist das Gekicke nicht schlechter geworden. Nur braucht es niemand, der bereits einen der drei Vorgänger im Regal stehen hat. Und dafür gibt's einen "Zahn der Zeit"-Punkteabzug.

Craving a soccer game for your PlayStation? EA Sports has everyone beat in terms of options and teams, while the playcontrol has always been very solid. However, as with most of the EA Sports lines, this game isn’t a whole lot different from last season’s. If you don’t follow the roster changes of the soccer world, there is even less of a difference. I can’t find a reason to recommend this game. At the most it’s a rental.

In terms of options, FIFA does a great job by providing easy-to-use menus and logical formats for the Season, Tournament, and Practice modes. Plus, with over 60 teams, there is definitely a big selection (I prefer the Netherlands). However, this game definitely needs some extras – possibly a challenge mode like Madden and Live.

FIFA 2001 marque l'arrivée de la série sur PS2. Et quelle entrée puisque, avec une réalisation largement à la hauteur de son homologue sur PC, un gameplay assez équilibré et une licence toujours aussi monstrueuse, le jeu de EA Sports peut sans conteste se placer en numéro un sur PS2. Reste son aspect encore un peu arcade, une IA très faible (surtout dans le placement des joueurs) et le système de passe parfois un peu imprécis. Un bon jeu pas loin du grand jeu !

Trots försämringarna är FIFA 2001 inget dåligt fotbollsspel. Spelkontrollen är lika bra som vanligt och trots att jag stör mig lite på att motståndarna sällan jobbar som ett lag när man själv har bollen flyter matcherna oftast bra. Däremot tycker jag att det är en onödig investering. FIFA 2000 är fortfarande ett bättre alternativ. Att skaffa FIFA 2001 bara för att få tillgång till de senaste laguppgifterna vore näst intill vansinnigt.

Med detta i åtanke är det svårt att inte bli besviken på FIFA 2001. Men bara för att jag är besviken betyder det inte att spelet är värdelöst. Som vanligt innehåller det massor av riktiga ligor och trots att detta idag inte är lika unikt som för några år sedan är fortfarande Electronic Arts det företag som har bäst koll på spelarövergångar och liknande. Så de som tror sig kunna leva med en medioker spelkontroll och halvdan grafik kan roa sig hela vintern. Jag är dock som sagt alldeles för besviken för att ens försöka vinna skotska Premier League.
