FIFA 2005 is without a doubt the greatest soccer game EA has made. It features everything you could possibly want and more. First Touch system, Online Play, extensive Career mode, so many leagues and players, great visuals, and top-notch audio. Those of you who were disappointed by previous FIFA games shouldn’t hesitate to try this one out. If you are looking for a good soccer game that will keep you entertained for a long time, or at least until Halo 2 comes out, then FIFA 2005 is number one in its class.

FIFA soccer has had a rich history. Starting its 11th year with FIFA 2005, it remains to be the best-selling soccer title in America. And although its solid gameplay has had trouble in the past couple of years living up to the Winning Eleven series, this year puts FIFA back in heated contention from a gameplay standpoint.

If you're looking for an action-packed title for your N-Gage, you need look no further than FIFA 2005 - even if you're not a fan of football or sports games. You can go on for a quick match, challenge a medium match with friendly mode, or have a longer session with the deeper career mode and that's not to mention the competition mode, the unlockables and the multiplayer! In addition to all this, you can connect to N-Gage arena to upload instant replays and scores, although there is no multiplayer online option. If you enjoy rewarding gameplay, FIFA 2005 delivers like few others.

With the Euro Cup and Americas Cup having finished up a long while ago, soccer fans everywhere can still get their soccer fix in video game form thanks to EA Sport’s popular FIFA Soccer franchise. Last year’s game just proved that there’s always room for improvement and improving an already good thing just gives us a reason to be excited again. Case in point, FIFA Soccer 2005, the franchise’s latest offering complete with a deeper Career mode, new gameplay features and a Create-A-Player option. Ah, it looks like this is going to be another good year for soccer fans.

With the success and critical acclaim of FIFA Soccer 2004, EA Sports has proven that the beloved sport has a fan base that appreciates a soccer game that not only plays excellently but also features all the goodies that make this such a cool sport. As a soccer fan, I felt that EA Sports not only captured the sport well enough but, judging by FIFA Soccer 2005, it wanted to take things one step further. Is this a step in the right direction, though?

Focusing on fixing gameplay, EA Sports has made the best playing FIFA ever. The fight for supremacy between EA Sports and Konami's soccer franchises is starting up once again, and FIFA 2005 has kicked it off in what will potentially be the closest match up yet.

The biggest downside for '05 is its focus on professional leagues. China is the only national team offered in Asia, perhaps showing that EA Canada is content with leaving that region (and its sales) to Winning Eleven. The addition of lesser professional leagues in lieu of national teams hints that the game caters specifically toward Europe and Americas, where, not surprisingly, game sales were highest. Other irks include the essentially non-functioning offside traps, ?ber goalies for top teams, goalies occasionally catching pass-backs, and generic A.I. across all teams.

It is often referred to as the beautiful sport, and when it comes to the grace, the sheer athleticism and the strategic elements, few sports can match soccer. Ok, that may be some prejudice creeping in, but you consider the way that teams battle, probe and then use speed, precision passing and deadly velocity on shot, the world’s most popular sport has a lot going for it.

They do very little wrong when it comes to Soccer, and maybe that's the reason Sega opted out for a game yet again year, and we haven't seen much of a rumbling from 989 Sports. With the addition of Xbox online play and another tightening of the gameplay across the board, who's going to really be a challenge this year? FIFA is again where it's at. So I'll see you online for some great footie action.

EA Sports’ series makes a return. While soccer isn’t very popular in the United States, in many other countries like Mexico and Portugal, it is actually much more popular than football, arguably the most popular of American sports. FIFA Soccer 2005 is the latest entry in EA Sports’ long-running series and even to a series newbie like myself, offers gratifying, arcadey gameplay.

So as the final whistle approaches, how do we feel FIFA Soccer 2005 has performed? Well, there's no doubt that this is EA Sports' best soccer game to date on the pitch. However, it's really unfortunate that the career mode isn't more user-friendly. Total Club Manager 2005's compatibility with the game is a mouthwatering prospect, but even without that, it's hard to imagine that anyone with an interest in soccer would find EA Sports' best soccer game ever disappointing.

This is EA Sports' best soccer game to date on the pitch, but it's really unfortunate that the career mode isn't more user-friendly. In the world of soccer games there are really only two serious contenders for the championship title at this point: Konami's Winning Eleven games (Pro Evolution Soccer in Europe), and EA Sports' FIFA Soccer series. Like rival soccer teams eager to show off their newly acquired players at the start of a new season, these two series show up with a host of new features every 12 months in the hope that they'll finally score a convincing victory over the other.

FIFA 2005 is a topgame and up to now the best in the series so it will depend most on your personal preference whether you'll like this one more than PES which probably scores even a little better when it comes to realism. The FIFA episode is what it needs to be: an evolution of the previous with more focus on realism and gameplay without loosing the traditional strengths of the series. Of course there are always things that can be improved but in the end each footie-lover and arcade sports gamer will have hours of fun with this one.

FIFA 2005 is a magnificent football game. Electronic arts still isn't quite up there with Pro Evolution Soccer 4 in the gameplay, however this game has better presentation, more teams and options, and the biggest bonus - online gameplay. You can't go wrong with this game.

This year FIFA Soccer 2005 takes the game modes from last year and expands on them; things like Tournaments and single games, the FIFA 2005 store, etc. And 2005 adds what I thought was the single most glaring thing missing from last year. Xbox Owners, welcome to the online pitch! Yes, FIFA got the Xbox Live treatment as well. This made a lot of people happy. Kudos to Microsoft and EA for finally working their differences out, because FIFA is the only online Soccer game there is, and last year it was only on the Playstation 2. So now you have both consoles with online play, and all is well. So that's big. That's very big as far as I am concerned. And the EA Sports Ticker runs while you're connected as well, showing real scores from around the league.

Well, there's no doubt that this is EA Sports' best soccer game to date on the pitch, but it's really unfortunate that the career mode isn't more user-friendly. The game boasts the same level of detail as other EA Sports titles for the most part, but you might notice minor bugs and glitches as you spend time with the game. None of these little snags impact the gameplay or are really worthy of a mention here, but make the game seem a little rushed. Despite that, FIFA 2005 is a great game for fans of the sport.

FIFA 2005 is much improved over the last version of the game and fans of the series will no doubt feel good about grabbing it again. The choice between this game and a Konami soccer title, like many other debates in the sports world where EA is involved is a matter of taste, not necessarily quality. FIFA, like Madden, delivers a strong overall feeling of being involved in the world’s most popular sport in big noisy stadiums with highly skilled players who are regarded as gods by their fans. It’s great head to head and online because of the nature of soccer itself. The Franchise mode is extremely satisfying because the long term and short term consequences of your decisions are always going to be on your mind and that only ads to the pressure of winning. FIFA05 is the best version of the series so far.

The challenge for every sports game, especially from EA, is to introduce enough newness year after year to make said sports game worth the purchase. There was a time when simply getting the new roster update was enough. The arrival of FIFA Soccer 2005 on PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube ends up being a bit of redemption for the franchise that had slipped a bit last time we saw it.

The arrival of FIFA Soccer 2005 on PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube ends up being a bit of redemption for the franchise that had slipped a bit last time we saw it. Despite the growing popularity of Konami's Winning Eleven series of soccer titles, FIFA is still one of the powerful trio of games that Electronic Arts relies on year after year to carry the company. But that doesn't mean the developers at EA Canada could've gotten away with another mediocre effort this fall. Because of this, FIFA '05 improves on its predecessor in every way, even if it still isn't quire the intuitive football experience it could be, especially in comparison to its competition.

Released for the N-Gage in January of this year, FIFA Soccer 2004 is arguably the best sports game to grace the platform to date. Now, just 10 months later, EA Sports has released its inevitable 2005 sequel which, we're pleased to report, does a lot more than just update the team rosters and uniforms. FIFA Soccer 2005 for the N-Gage has a lot more in common with its PC and console counterparts than you might expect, and it plays to the strengths of Nokia's handheld with both Bluetooth and N-Gage Arena support.

FIFA 2005 is a slick and highly enjoyable production, and what it lacks in realism, it makes up for in pure entertainment value. While Konami will have the last word with soccer purists, the FIFA series has successfully evolved to the point where it no is longer competing on those terms.

Back in early 1994, I was one of the many Americans who finally learned how to appreciate soccer, mainly due to the fact that the World Cup Tournament was taking place on our shores for the first time in its history. For weeks I followed the results, watched the games, and was introduced to some of the game's colorful characters. When all was said and done, I was eager to put some of the knowledge I had gained to use, so I ran out and bought FIFA International Soccer for the Sega Genesis, the first soccer game developed by Electronic Arts. While the FIFA series would dominate the market for most of the decade, recent years have seen them battling numerous challengers to stay on top.

It's often said that the best football players make the game look simple. If the same principle can be applied to football games, then the N-Gage's FIFA 2005 is a veritable Pele. Whereas most modern simulations of the sport (and indeed most other versions of FIFA) seem to want to make the game ever more complicated, with stunningly life-like animations and fussy gimmicks, FIFA 2005 sets out to do the simple things well and it's all the better for it, delivering arguably the most accessible pocket gaming soccer sim yet available.

FIFA 2005 is as much a team-oriented simulation game as you’re going to encounter. If you’ve played FIFA 2004, you know exactly what kind of gameplay experience to expect, with one exception First Touch Control. In keeping with other games in the EA Sports line, FIFA 2005 makes use of the right analog-stick to perform a quick shimmy to outmaneuver your defender. This feature is a good one in theory, since it attempts to balance both the Lone Maverick and Team Player ideologies of gaming. However, this tweak is a quick and dirty solution to distract gamers from FIFA’s main problem area - its overall user responsiveness.

If you are familiar with the players, follow MLS, or can point to Benevento on a globe in one try, then FIFA 2005 will suit you well. It’s a good game of soccer and sports a few nice, unique features. However, if you care more about responsive control and a better overall gameplay experience, look next to FIFA on the retail shelf and find your allegiance with Winning Eleven. It's still the king of the pitch.

In light of all this, it's clear that FIFA 2005 is pretty much the same damn game, game play-wise, as FIFA 2004 and FIFA 2003. Some subtle additions have been made to the game, but nothing that would warrant this galloping annual release schedule that EA keeps forcing us to keep up with. While the added management options offer a little more depth, you'd be much better off just playing a good Soccer management game, or if you're looking for a good soccer simulation (which FIFA 2005 isn't as it's still very arcadish and full of silly and inaccurate AI solutions), try your hand at Winning Eleven by Konami, probably the best soccer simulation currently available on the market.

The biggest addition to the game is the "First Touch" system, which allows a player, among other things, the ability to make a move on a defender as you're receiving a pass, simply by flicking the right analog stick in the direction you'd like to go. It's a really nice addition, since you're able to react to the positioning of the defensive player and get a chance to create a little room to break down the field. You can also quickly pass to another player as soon as you get the ball, and a series of fast passes is a great way to exploit any defensive lapses and create scoring chances.

Another year, another FIFA. Unlike some of EA Sports' other franchises FIFA has had a rather spotty career, from a spectacular debut to its recent poor form. But things are looking up for the veteran franchise. There is a greater emphasis on the passing game this year, and indeed with the wider viewpoint and slower play the FIFA 2005 almost resembles its main competitor, Winning Eleven 7. Almost, anyway, since it still falls short of the standards set by Konami's effort.

FIFA has always been an arcade game, and you can feel that EA is slowly trying to turn it into a simulation. It certainly looks the part, and new features like First Touch and the revamped career mode are positive additions -- but it's not there yet. Soccer sim fans are still much better off sticking with Winning Eleven despite its lack of license power. However, for online players, FIFA 2005 is worth taking a look at because it removes a lot of the offline AI issues. Hopefully one day EA Sports will put it all together to make both modes of play equally entertaining.

When it comes down to it, FIFA 2005 is the Beckham of soccer games. There’s plenty of style, a little finesse, but mostly it’s all marketing. It’s arguable -- we’ll make that argument, at least -- that last year’s Winning Eleven 7 is better than this year’s FIFA 2005. With Winning Eleven on the market you just expect more, and you get it. FIFA may have high-priced Premiereship licenses and a killer career mode, but at the end of the day, it’s just not as much fun as the competition.
