And that’s FIFA Street 3, in essence; a cauldron of bubbling football, where John Terry can score from the half-way line, tricks are rewarded with something akin to a bad trip on drugs, and the goalie is just as likely to clear the ball with a backflip as he is a simple pass. But, more importantly than all this, it’s damn good fun. Whether it can distinguish itself enough from FIFA’s main thread to find a sizable enough audience remains to be seen and – enjoyable as it may be – justifying a full £40 price-tag just months after FIFA 08 hit the shelves is no easy task, but to dismiss this on the basis of its license and developer would be a foolish move indeed.

Sports are very varied and in our virtual world the amount of available products is more than sufficient. Still there are certain people who want to be a bit more original by stealing the show and do some fat tricks. Soccer fans that love this will no doubt have been playing Fifa Street and its successor to death and now a third part has arrived. The motto is still the same: hop hop, shoot and score!

FIFA Street 3 is a great casual kick around that may be style over substance, although it does what it does very nicely. It’s certainly a nice alternative to the realism found in other football games, and sometimes it‘s nice to see my goalkeeper using a header to put the ball back in play, or to witness one of my overpaid players keeping the ball from hitting the ground as if he were attempting to break the keepy-up world record, indeed sometimes an unconventional take on a sport can be a nice change, and FIFA Street 3 is entertaining proof of this.

FIFA Street 3 thoroughly improves the series with its leap onto the next-gen consoles, not only visually, but in terms of gameplay and all-round appeal as well. However, if you're looking for single-player mileage out of it, you're best of getting a copy of PES or FIFA. This game is unashamedly all about multiplayer party gaming.

There’s enough good on the surface of FIFA Street 3’s silvery disc to make it a recommendation for those that don’t care to get into the intricacies of controlling a ball with its own physics or managing an eleven-man roster. Even with some of the gameplay issues that, if avoided, could have helped to make a better overall game, FIFA Street 3 is still a fun pick-up-and-play experience for the raving soccer fan.

With its bold artistic direction and its fun, refined gameplay, FIFA Street 3 is a winner for casual fans of the sport. Those looking for an in-depth simulation should look elsewhere, but if you want a fun virtual kick-around with mates, you need look no further.

While slim on modes, the sum of FIFA Street 3’s individual parts makes it recommendable to anyone, including those who aren’t too hot for soccer. It’s not particularly great and it’s only a rental if you only really plan to go solo, but it’s certainly not bad by any means. If you’ve been teetering on whether to buy it or not, then give it a spin and you might have a good time if only for a weekend.

A fantastic sense of style puts the series' best foot forward, but it's at a cost of losing the relative depth found in the previous two installments. FIFA Street 3 ditches their dense gameplay and sprints forward with fewer modes and options. This trade off is for the best because it makes the game more accessible and more entertaining than ever before but it won't make you forget about hardcore sims like Winning Eleven either. While you won't want to sit with it for hours on end, FIFA Street 3 is fun for a few stylish rounds of pretend footie.

Despite the fact that it doesn’t bring any new essential things in the football genre and it isn’t a revolutionary title, FIFA Street 3 scores points with the graphics, animations and excellent music, which can keep you glued to your seat a lot of hours in front of your TV/monitor. Being a sports game fan, I played this game with pleasure and, though it didn’t stay in my mind for a very long time and I don’t eagerly await to start my console just to play it again, I am sure that it would be one of most important games to play when I’ll want to entertain myself with a football title.

So far, EA BIG titles for the PlayStation 3 have been hit and miss. There was NBA Street Homecourt, a definite hit, and then there was NFL Tour, a miss. FIFA Street is EA's next major arcade franchise that deals with a popular sport, and its third entry has arrived. The first two were quite welcomed; gracing both the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, and that makes FIFA Street 3 the series' first next-gen iteration. So how does it bow in?

PlayStation 3GameZone
FIFA Street 3 is an entertaining arcade title that does have a very nice presentation, but it is the lack of modes that will be the next challenge for the development team. Still, this game finally brings the franchise some needed respect and performs well, but only if played in short bursts of time.

PlayStation 3GameSpy
Overall, FIFA Street 3 is a markedly better game than its predecessors. It's got great presentation, from visuals that pop to its eclectic soundtrack to its stylized art design. The action combines trick-based gameplay with FIFA's strategy, and outside of the long-distance lag it's got a very fun head-to-head online game. Unfortunately, beyond the core experience, there's a lot of wasted potential here. The career mode and offline multiplayer modes are fun, but lack variety and get old quite fast; you'll mainly play through the challenge cups to unlock Achievements (on 360) and squads. FIFA Street 3 isn't the greatest soccer title ever, but it's certainly head and shoulders above any other street footy game at the moment.

These improvements stand in contrast to the continued weak goalie AI, unhelpful camera work, and iffy passing. I also think you could add give-and-gos, set pieces, and through passes to give more gameplay dimension to a title that is too limiting.

So then FIFA Street is the Lotus Elise to the hitherto unseen FIFA 2009’s Aston Martin, the sugar rush-fuelled appetiser before the dessert. Nevertheless, despite the seemingly shallow offerings from this brand of Boca Soca…er I mean soccer, it puts a big cheesy grin on your face, is ruthlessly addictive and although we’ve still perhaps not yet seen the definitive non-footie footie game in the FIFA Street series in my opinion, this will do for the time being.

Xbox 360Thunderbolt Games
Rather than offering gamers a complete overhaul, the developers at EA BIG provide an enjoyable and completely playable addition to the FIFA Street series. Unfortunately, it looks as if there isn’t enough content or new ideas that will make many gamers readily come back for more once the original challenges are completed. Ultimately, a formula that now seems over-used out weighs the impressive new art style, and makes this game one for die-hard football fans only. For this franchise to progress any further, EA need to start bringing in more style and innovation, as somewhat ironically, this title lacks just that key ingredient far too often.

Xbox 360Game Vortex
Overall, FIFA Street 3 is an okay game. The slick presentation and general feel both work in the game's favor. At the same time, both of these items overshadow the gameplay and almost feel like they are meant to distract you from the game's weaker areas.

Xbox 360GameZone
FIFA Street 3 is a marked improvement over the first games in the series, with the added time in development contributing nicely to cleaning up the on-field play. However, there is still some work to be done with the game’s modes before it can be the answer for those looking for a great arcade soccer experience.

Still, FIFA Street 3 ticks all the boxes - and it’s more accessible for ditching the hammy urban sheen. You can dip in for a quick game, but you can also go a step further and create your perfect team, tailor your play to each of your players' strengths and weaknesses and go up against the elite online. There’s limited solo fun to suck from it, but rope some mates in and you’ll be able to digitally show just how good your real-life skills are. Well, how good they are in your mind, at least.

FIFA Street 3 would be a great game if it could manage to find some depth. As it is, the game is immediately pleasing, but runs out of puff too quickly, especially in solo play.

So how does this game stack up overall? It's got to be the best FIFA Street to date. The presentation is exactly where it needs to be and deserves high marks. Gamers will be pleasantly surprised to find such a smooth and attractive game. Disappointingly, the gameplay feels only moderately better than the title's predecessors. There's definitely a lot of tweaking that still needs to be done before the game can be considered truly fun. The controls are too simple for any true depth, and while I like the attack-minded gameplay, I wish it wasn't attack-centric. I suppose it will due for a few laughs though. Thankfully, the game sells at the reduced, if not bargain, price of $49.99. World football fanatics should enjoy the title, but they will definitely be wishing for a lot more.

FIFA Street 3 seems to be steering the series in the right direction as it’s an improvement over the first two installments. Still, it’s lacking in a few key areas and that’s what keeps it from attaining the glory that other Street games have been able to find. Add a finely crafted career mode and even more depth to the gameplay and more football fans will take notice, but as it stands Street 3 probably doesn’t deserve a spot in your lineup.

Xbox 360Game Shark
FIFA Street 3 plays a very fun over-the-top, yet seemingly plausible (for the most part) game of soccer very reminiscent of futsal and indoor soccer. It lacks pace, but makes up for it with skills and basic soccer strategy. What it lacks is teams and depth in its gameplay modes. It’s a great game for players who love to venture online, as a party game, or for players with readily available human opponents, like in a college dormitory or something similar, but single players won’t get enough for their money. Regardless, it’s at least worth a rental for a few hours of fun.

FIFA Street 3 plays a more enjoyable game of street soccer than any of its predecessors, but the lack of anything resembling a career mode with player and team progression really hurts the single-player experience. This year's game ultimately marks an unfortunate victory for style over substance, but at least it was a close contest.

Xbox 360Xbox360Achievements
FIFA Street 3 had the potential to be an outstanding game, allowing you to recreate the moves your heroes seem to pull off with great ease in real life. Unfortunately though, a lack of game modes, love them or hate them graphics, along with a questionable trick and tackle system make the game only a rent instead of a buy in my book. The game feels rushed, with an obvious lack of love and passion.

FIFA Street 3 single player lacks the depth that is needed to have players coming back for more. After just a few hours, you have explored every excitement that the game has to offer. If this title was released for a handheld system it would be a score, but for the capabilities of Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, it is very underdeveloped. Hopefully EA Sports Big can add some much needed depth to future renditions because the online multiplayer, the graphics, and the offensive controls are the only things that keep this game from being rained out.

EA can keep trying to throw different sports under the “Street” header, but I highly doubt any one of them is going to work on the level as the basketball-based original. It was based on style, which is much easier to express in street basketball than it was in NFL Street and now FIFA Street. Sure, you can use the right analog stick to perform fancy juggles and other moves, but it’s never nearly as exciting as bouncing a basketball off your opponent’s face, rolling on the ground while dribbling, then performing a through-the-legs slam dunk. Despite soccer’s translation difficulties to the EA Big franchise, this is not a bad title, just an underwhelming one. It animates well and features some exciting moments (often tied to the Gamebreaker function), but doesn’t make you want to stand up and cheer when you score a goal like an arcade soccer game should.

FIFA Street 3 is going to sell tonnes of copies no matter what anyone says about it, but that doesn't stop it being a real disappointment as a game. When I played it a few months back it had huge potential, but after spending some prolonged time with the game its flaws are all too obvious. It looks great and has more character than any sports game I've ever played, but its gameplay is too shallow and unrewarding to provide long-term entertainment. While the real FIFA games are progressing nicely towards a potential leading position, the Street spin-off simply can't find its feet.

To sum it up, FIFA Street 3 is a fun, yet relatively short lived game that won’t keep you entertained for too long compared to the likes of Pro Evo 08 and FIFA 08 - but there are far worse ways to burn a short while here and there. The offline mode’s a big disappointment, although the mechanics of the game have been improved on since the previous instalment, the lack of content offline really is a massive let down and doesn’t make the game look like a sound investment at full price. Maybe if they add a more expansive career mode in the next instalment it may be, but as it stands; it’s not.

Don't get us wrong. We're all for a good soccer game, like the arcade-y Sega Soccer Slam and EA's more serious FIFA 08. However, FIFA Street 3 just feels like the same old thing, rather than that significant "next step" in the series. The online options are good and soccer fans will thoroughly enjoy lobbing a ludicrously high-speed ball at a goalie. However, like NFL Tour before it, it just doesn't go as deep and hard into the sport as it should have.

It feels like every step FIFA Street 3 takes in the right direction is countered by two steps backward. While the title has made great strides in improving the overall look of the players and fields, the actual gameplay has already grown incredibly bland and repetitive. There needs to be something that not only spices up the variety of moves and options, but also helps to give FIFA Street a definitive "soccer" feel. Overall I'd say that FIFA Street 3 is a pretty average arcade sports title, with not enough going for it to keep players interested for long. It is one of the only arcade-style soccer games out there, though, so if you've wanted to try one, this is definitely your best bet. Here's hoping some improvements to the overall gameplay and available modes can be made for the next entry in the series.

As you may have guessed, to me FIFA Street 3 is a game that would most certainly have passed me by had I not been reviewing it, as far as I am concerned football is at it’s best when it is played on a green pitch, inside a stadium with 11 men on each side, men that know how to tackle may I add. FIFA Street 3 is game that is all about flair and done correctly this could be ok I guess, unfortunately though the game doesn’t really have any depth to it, you will soon tire off seeing the same old tricks and hearing your teammates shout the same phrase over and over again, therefore perhaps you too should pass this game by, well unless you are a show off of course.

Xbox 360AceGamez
FIFA Street 3 will appeal to casual and hardcore football fans, but both may be a little disappointed with what they find. No one can deny that the game has got style - it oozes it from the menu screen and onto the football pitch in typical EA fashion - however, it lacks the depth and substance to make it appeal for more than a couple of hours, after which you may start to question the wisdom of your investment. The lack of any tangible single player options contributes to the game's short lifespan, which can only be revived by going online or playing the multiplayer modes. The skills are very well crafted and easy to learn; if EA had balanced them better then the lifespan of this game could have been increased a lot further. This is a real shame, because the game promises so much for a few hours, but fades away rather badly, leaving us to wait with the hope that FIFA Street's fourth incarnation will finally achieve its full potential.
60
Xbox 360MS Xbox World
For single players there really isn't too much to sink your teeth into and if you are a completionist then you'll ultimately find that you'll finish the game quite quickly. For me, FIFA Street 3 is perhaps a more accessible game than its predecessor but at the same time has too many flaws to make it strike out to the wider audience. Many gamers not used to the style will no doubt be left scratching their heads at the poor AI and lack of atmosphere. A lack of options, modes, players and of course environments, suggest that FIFA Street 3 is really only going to appeal to the fans of the series. If you are not a fan, then I suggest you stay clear, because if you love football, then there's so much more on offer in other games that will provide the experience you are looking for. If you are after something a little different from the norm and perhaps lower your expectations, then FIFA Street 3 can offer some moments of fun if playing with like-minded friends.

It’s not usual to tell a story when writing a review, but after the experience I had why trying to play, understand, and rate FIFA Street 3 I think painting a picture of my time with the game is the only way to give a fair view of why I gave it the slightly high score which you may now have already skipped to at the bottom of the page. Oh, and if you think that score is still low I was very close to giving it a 4, so you see an explanation is sorely needed.
60
Xbox 360Gamervision
With the exception of the improved graphics, FIFA Street 3 has little to recommend it, even over its previous incarnations. The omission of previously available features, like season mode and create-a-player, make this a serious step down in terms of gameplay and replay value, and what’s left isn’t quite worth the price of admission.

We prefer our women pretty on the outside, and as hollow as a $4 drugstore Easter bunny inside. But the opposite holds true of our video games. Which is why the latest FIFA Street attempt went over—as Uncle Jack used to say—like a fart in church. Oh, you'll be completely entertained—possibly enthralled, even—by the initial five to 10 minutes of gameplay. But then the repetition sets in, and you'll wonder why the makers of the game decided to completely leave out any semblance of defense. Save $60 and spend the next five to 10 minutes pleasuring yourself at a dangerously high speed instead.

Fifa Street 3 certainly kept us hooked for a while. It has an excellent online mode, but is let down by its single player shortcomings. It’s a competent title if you like an arcade equivalent to the usual simulation football titles, but don’t expect it to entertain for long.

There is a great, great game yet to be made in this subset of the football sub-genre, where the depth of a beat-'em-up lurks beneath accessible showboating, but this isn't it. You can't really blame EA for not going that far - inevitably it would rather funnel that kind of resource into its bazillion-selling FIFA mother-series - and a lot of people will undoubtedly buy this and enjoy wasting an hour with it on a Sunday afternoon after lunch and before Football Italiano. There's no point pretending it's amazing, though, so we won't; you'll know whether you're up for it or not, and the demo you can download from Xbox Live or PlayStation Network will have no trouble settling the question in your mind. We like it, and the new graphical approach is an inspired choice, but we can't imagine paying 40 quid to add it to our heaving shelves.

This game may not appeal to a big percentage of soccer fans. Nevertheless, it does provide a few good laughs albeit short-lived. It’s not a game I can see myself playing consistently. There just isn’t enough content to keep an avid fan of the genre hooked. Coupled with the dodgy AI, basic and at times frustrating gameplay, the game is only really worth a few days rental. Even then you may find yourself taking it back to the rental store to grab something else instead.

Despite the highly accessible gameplay, FIFA Street 3 doesn't offer enough to justify even the lowered $50 asking price. Xbox 360 owners will be happy to learn that most of the game's achievements are easily unlocked, but that still doesn't place the game any higher than "rental" or "bargain bin purchase" status. Unless you've got a strong love for the sport and a bunch of friends to play online and off with, skip FIFA Street 3 in favor of the more features-rich soccer offerings on the market.

FIFA Street 3 will provide an enjoyable time for anyone who doesn't take their sports too seriously. You will get a visual style that is like no other, the ability to perform over the top moves off of interactive environments, and score a lot during the process. This is soccer on adrenaline.

At first look there’s so much to like about FIFA Street 3 – its visual style is strong and charismatic, and the flamboyant legion of tricks and fakes make for an arresting looking game of football. It’s such a shame, then, that the sheen is not backed up with any substance, as though the game enthralls in short bursts it’s hard to see anyone sticking with it for more than a couple of plays before moving on to more substantial fare – and as such we wouldn’t recommend anyone paying out for the full-fat asking price.

Recently the head of EA spoke to a group of Wall Street analysts and spent a good deal of time talking about the downward trend of review scores for EA games. For him to mention game review scores in his investor presentation is unusual. But it’s also very telling of their priorities. I wish it translated to a better experience in FIFA Street. I’m glad I don’t have stock in EA. If they keep pumping out games like this, their stock will be worth about as much as FIFA Street 3.

The Street series should just be burning in a great hole right now, in a firework display of broken promises. If the developers could just give us a proper 5-a-side football game without the Gamebreaker, quicker movement and a little more fluid interactions, that will be enough to satisfy us. Otherwise please move along Sir as there is nothing more to see here.

Is FIFA Street 3 a good game? It could have been, but it's not. Even for a Street game it's below mediocre, and the constant little things like annoying AI, bad passing physics, and random ball bounces that lead to losing the ball add up far faster than they should have. EA made the move towards realism in a Street game, and it really took away whatever redeeming qualities it may have had. When people play FIFA Street they expect fun, absurdity, and soccer matches the likes of which they'd never see in real life. Instead, we get a game that's more realistic than ludicrous, and offers little in the way of replay value. If I want a realistic soccer game, I'll get Pro Evo. If you're a fan of soccer (or football) at all, you'd be wise to pass this one up and do the same.

If you’re a soccer fan (a.k.a., a real football fan), you’ll be pretty disgusted by what this game does to the players, to the teams, and to the sport. Outside of the US, soccer is the standard “street” game, so it’s inexcusable that a game that purports to bring soccer back to the streets would be so far off the ball. This series would benefit greatly from a re-imagining. Send the developers to the streets of Paris or Mexico City or Johannesburg; then have them come back and make a real FIFA Street game. On the other hand, if you’re a fan of more frenetic “American” sports and soccer has always seemed to you like a game for pansies, you might enjoy checking this game out to see what soccer might be like if it were more like basketball.

If you're a soccer gamer dreaming of the NBA Street Homecourt of footie, hit the snooze button and rest your head for another cycle -- FIFA Street 3 isn't the charm. The game mechanics are passable and you'll see more than a few thrilling moments on your way toward the goal (the bicycle kicks, wall climbs, and juggling are all squeal-worthy the first time you see them), but the game lacks the creative and dramatic spark needed to keep it in your system after a few kicks.
