The single player experience is good, and the multiplayer is great. Unfortunately for me, the Internet wasn’t kind in FIFA Germany as each game I played was choppy and affected the gameplay greatly. I was also frustrated with the sheer number of times in which I had to research for opponents, as they casually back out from the team select screen as soon as they see I chose Brazil (hey guys and gals... play me anyway... your rank is sure to go up!). Hopefully EA will find a fix for that problem, which plagues their sports titles greatly. Other than relatively few complaints, however, 2006 FIFA World up Germany is a solid title and worthy of a rental for most, and a buy for worldwide fans of soccer.

Again, this is a great effort from EA. I would have liked more in the way of real ball physics and smarter AI goalies. It sets the bar and I hope that EA and others will set out to beat the mark with the next soccer game due out. It offers plenty and delivers a solid gaming experience. Just know that there are certain areas that still need tweaked. If you enjoy soccer and were waiting for a title loaded with teams and features, this is the best you’re going to find for this year. It showed changes and a new direction for the series and I liked that.

One of the most enjoyable soccer games you will play on your PSP, 2006 FIFA World Cup is the perfect traveling companion for any sports fan. While the game concentrates on this year’s World Cup and its qualifying teams, you’ll still have a great time playing through this tournament. If you love a good portable sports game and/or are a soccer aficionado, this is the game you will want to buy.

The controls are more responsive than the 360 platform, and there is the create-a-player option to put you squarely into the heat of the battle. The 2006 FIFA World Cup edition is definitely a lot of fun to play, and provides a solid challenge as well.

2006 FIFA World Cup is a delightful celebration of the Super Bowl of soccer with the official German stadiums, all the teams you could want and a variety of game modes. It's chock-full of World Cup atmosphere, from the roar of the crowd to a rainstorm of confetti to actual video-tours of each German stadium to 127 national anthems. Of course, the lack of a true manager mode hurts the longevity of a title that should hold value until 2008, or even beyond. But EA put together its most solid soccer gameplay experience yet and the deepest World Cup title of all time. Still, it's hard to argue that the gameplay, an obvious imitation of Winning Eleven, is better, but with star players and a nifty new shooting mechanism, it would be hard to argue it's worse.

The future for EA based Fifa games looks bright if anything can be judged from 2006 FIFA World Cup. The only thing that this bag of soccer goodness is missing is the corruption that riddles the wonderful game of soccer…and the ability to head butt an annoying defender.

There’s good gameplay, excellent modes, palpable pageantry, above average graphics and audio, and even sweet navigation screens.

The team management mode is a little light and there is no way to create a player to put into the action, but the look and feel of the game is very solid. This game captures the excitement of the sport and while there are few minor issues, it is still a lot of fun to play and offers a lot of challenge.

A little over five weeks from now, the 2006 FIFA World Cup will kick off in Munich when the tournament's German hosts take on Costa Rica. Recent player injuries are already providing plenty of pre-tournament drama, but if you really want to get your experience under way a month ahead of time, you can claim the FIFA World Cup Trophy for your country in EA Sports' 2006 FIFA World Cup. EA Canada's latest football offering does a good job of re-creating the carnival atmosphere that surrounds every World Cup competition, and although the Xbox 360 game still lacks some of the best features from its PlayStation 2 and Xbox counterparts, it's a much easier game to recommend than last year's FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup.

Fifa World Cup Germany 2006 is a nice but also light soccer game. It offers a lot of action, much variation and a minimum of profundity. It's especially the latter that will be a disadvantage to the Fifa series until the end of times, but on the other hand everyone, even my little sister, will know how to handle the controls. If EA wants to offer pleasure with this game, they definitely score, but the gamer who wants more freedom should look to another series of soccer games...

2006 FIFA World Cup is a much improved soccer title compared to its predecessor on the Xbox 360, Road to FIFA World Cup. The slight gameplay tweaks and changes help make the game more enjoyable to play. The title’s strongest aspect is the way it captures the World Cup event. Like most other World Cup titles, there isn’t a whole lot of replay value here, but the time you spend playing this title will be enjoyable. Soccer fans will at least have to give this one a rental.

Ahhhh.

I find it interesting that this game concept would only work for something as trendy as soccer. Still, it's really nice having the official teams, World Cup logos, a decent tournament structure and the ability to play all this on Xbox Live. FIFA gets better as the years pass, with each new evolution making it slicker, smoother and more enjoyable to play. FIFA World Cup still isn't quite the best footy game on Xbox, but if you want to recreate England's inevitable brave quarter-final defeat in your own home, this is more than enough to keep you busy for months.

2006 FIFA World Cup is definitely the best World Cup game since World Cup 98. There's a lot to do here and you won't simply want to throw the game to one side when you've won the World Cup with your chosen nation. There are problems although none are anything major. It's a shame that frame rate dips occur on all three versions and I had hoped the Xbox 360 version would have been without any slowdown considering the console's capabilities. The rather apathetic AI problem can be cured by simply upping the difficult level. Still regardless of the version you choose there's no question that this is one polished football product that will please those looking to enrich their World Cup experience.

Although presentation should be revered, there are some major flaws that keep this game for being one of the better soccer games around. Luckily, there isn’t a better option for a FIFA game other than this Xbox 360 title, but that may instantly change when FIFA 07 is released for all consoles soon. For those who don’t mind the flashy visuals and presentations, it might be a better alternative to go with the PS2 or Xbox versions instead. In puncto Taktik, Ballgefühl und Spielfreiheit zieht das Konami-Produkt locker an EA Sports vorbei. PES 5 ist eine Fußball-Simulation; FIFA WM 2006 ist ein Actionspiel. Go down the list of things you would want in a World Cup soccer game. Besides gameplay, graphics and sound, obviously, think about the aspects of the World Cup that would make a soccer videogame special. There's the atmosphere and pageantry of the Cup. There are star players that shine on soccer's grandest stage. There are qualifying rounds, the official stadiums of the host country and classic players and teams. In 2006 FIFA World, EA puts a checkmark next to almost every aspect that you would want in a World Cup title, making this year's game the most complete World Cup soccer game to date.

Being the first time that I've played FIFA on a home console and not a portable, I'm surprised how constrained you are with gameplay when games like Winning Eleven go very deep. That said, FIFA is a much friendlier game for soccer newcomers to play than Winning Eleven and as such, probably more attractive to gamers in America. If you can't make it to Germany, this may be your only chance to take part in the World Cup; that makes this an acceptable package for some fans of the sport.

While it's never going to match PES on the pitch, the authenticity does genuinely make a difference. If you play this enough, by the time the real thing comes around you should have gleaned enough information to be able to bore for England. So, has EA done FIFA justice? Well, if you skipped to this paragraph, the answer is a qualified yes. FIFA World Cup 2006 is a darned fun game. This is the best FIFA title yet, no doubt about it. It flows better and plays better than the previous incarnations. However, if you already own FIFA 2006, then think twice before spending your cash on a slightly updated version of the same game, even if it does have all the World Cup bells and whistles. I have absolutely no doubt that this will sit atop the multi-format charts for weeks on end, no matter what anyone says in a review. We will be thankful, then, that it's actually a good game. It is not better than the game it tries so hard to emulate, PES is still the king of the hill as far as football games go. But FIFA is getting closer than ever, and considering that many were a little disappointed with PES 5, the battle between PES 6 and FIFA 2007 could be an interesting one.

If you found yourself with a sour taste in your mouth after playing Road to the World Cup then you'll definitely want to tackle EA's "apology" release. Everything about FIFA 06: World Cup is better though I can't help but feel that instead of two separate releases we should have just received one solid package. That's roughly $120 you'd have spent on what should have been the same game. Not only that, the fact this version is $60 instead of $30 like the other console editions doesn't help matters either. Regardless, if you are a soccer hooligan looking for a game to sink your teeth into this is a semi-flawed but good package. I don't see it winning over a new audience but then the FIFA name speaks for itself.

2006 FIFA World Cup is a perfectly playable football title that happens to include a fair amount of content for a game based on a single tournament. Gameplay still lags behind the mighty
Pro Evolution Soccer in a few areas, but the 'first touch' and 'off the ball' systems continue to impress. Presentation is great as expected, making this the perfect title to celebrate the World Cup with, even if it's not the perfect footy game. If the Xbox 360 is your only gaming system, then this is also the best game of football you're going to get for a few months, but you'll have to decide if you want better visuals or the slightly superior playing current-gen version.

There's no doubt that fans of the series will be happy with what they get in 2006 FIFA World Cup. It looks great, it's easy to play and there are plenty of game modes to get
through. But the loose and clumsy gameplay still has some way to go before it can match the ongoing king of football games, Pro Evo. And - readers please take note - it's not worth getting if you have the massively similar FIFA 06. Still, it's the best of a limited choice, so if you fancy a kick-about on your next-gen powerhouse, this is the one to go for.

So, no, 2006 FIFA World Cup isn’t going to score lower than a five. Frankly, it’s one of the best FIFA titles in years and really encaptures the spirit of the World Cup. Yes, it has its problems, especially online, but single player offers a solid footballing experience which is very enjoyable. If you’ve steered clear of the last few instalments, then I highly suggest you invest in this, because you’ll be pleased with the results. It’s far from perfect, but this is a frivolous footballing game. Now, England, win the World Cup for me.

To conclude, this game is not as bad as it could’ve been, but if EA had tried its hardest it could’ve been so much more. However, it is still enjoyable all the same, and with the world cup coming up, there’s no excuse to give it a bash, just bring your England tinted spectacles with you.

Even though the game is vastly improved, the price tag of 60 dollars will make owners of the first FIFA 2006 wonder if buying this upgrade is worth the price. To you I can only say, it is a better game all around and if you can get a great trade in deal for FIFA 06, then go for it. For anyone looking for a great soccer title for their 360 who has not yet purchased FIFA 2006, it is a no brainer to shoot for World Cup.

2006 FIFA World Cup Germany is a nice game for its purpose, and whilst we don’t like its blatant cash-cowing ways, it is good fun. The controls are tight, the gameplay has a nice quick arcade feel and the sense of spectacle is second to none. It got us even more excited about the World Cup than we already were. At first glance, FIFA will suck you in with all the bells and whistles of excitement. But the more you play it, the more it feels the same. This isn't a swan song by any means and if you didn't pick up FIFA 2006 during the regular season, this might be worth checking out, especially due to the extra Global Challenge mode that allows you to replay certain historical matches. But don't expect the attempt to emulate the Winning Eleven series to knock your socks off.

Sometimes, I really do wonder what goes on in people’s heads. 2006 FIFA World Cup came out just over a week before this review was written, and I purposefully held back from submitting my review, just to see if I could have a look at some of the reviews from the larger sites and to see if I was going completely crazy. It seems that I must be mad, since everyone else is running reviews praising EA for making an above-average game. In my eyes, this is a new low for the FIFA series.

The default camera angle is extremely wide, giving you a good view but making the goals and players look incredibly small. The stadiums are fairly massive, and the blizzard of balloons and confetti coming from the stands looks great (I feel bad for the digitized groundskeepers who have to clean up all that stuff!). World Cup's commentary is exceptionally good, and I love it when they describe the ball as being "dispossessed". But there's really not much to like about World Cup. Whether you're a casual fan or a soccer maniac, I doubt you'll derive much enjoyment from this dull, dry soccer title.
