In a word, if you have the slightest interest in racing games, Ford Racing 2 should be in your collection. There are games out there retailing for $50 that offer less than what this game does, and it all comes at an incredibly affordable price of $9.99. With ranging, alluring challenges that offer tons of key rewards, all under a difficulty that feels just right, FR2 offers an outstanding but affordable package that you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. It just may be the best ten bucks you've ever spent.

Ford Racing 2 doesn’t bring as much to the table as some other racing games on the market but at the $19.99 suggested retail price it gives you a lot of bang for your buck. It might not have hundreds or cars to choose from and doesn’t offer the tuning options that have become standard in a lot of racing games lately. But, what is does offer is good clean racing fun at and affordable price. It would have been nice if Gotham Games would have given a little more background on the vehicles to really showcase the Ford Motor Company, since it is a Ford only racing game. But I guess if you really want to know more about Ford and their products you can go to Besides that I feel that Ford Racing 2 is a solid racing game that is worth checking out especially for the price. So, if you haven’t looked at Ford Racing 2 lately look again.

FR2's soundtrack is far from stellar. In fact, the rock part includes only 3 songs. If you put it on all soundtracks, it will be a grand total of around 6-8 songs. One or two of the songs are directly taken out of Gotham Games' other title, Starsky & Hutch. Here's a suggestion, turn on the radio or throw a CD in your CD Player, sit back, relax, and race. After all, there is nothing more American than racing, right?

This game is not aimed at someone looking for a supremely realistic race experience, nor is it aimed at someone looking for a quick fun arcade game. Rather, the intended audience seems to be the person who has always wanted to feel what it would be like to drive these vehicles at high speed and employ some of the tricks used in real life. If you've never liked racing games, then this won't provide anything to change your mind. But if the previous description sounds like you, then this title may be for you. And if you own a steering wheel, what are you waiting for?

XboxGame Shark (Jan 27, 2004)
This is a fun little game that you'd be mad to miss for under a tenner. It's no Gran Turismo, but with some attractive graphics and great variety in gameplay modes, it's well worth a few of your beer vouchers. The split screen multiplayer is a bit of a giggle too. It's just a shame there are no UK vehicles such as the Capri, Cortina or a decent Cosworth.
PlayStation 2PGNx Media (Nov 16, 2003)
The game’s visuals do a very nice job. The car models are awesome; Razorworks did an excellent job modeling them. The environments and tracks range from being spectacular to poor. There are some where the textures are awesome and the tracks are varied. Others feel very rushed with muddy textures and no sense of diversity.
XboxGamersMark (Nov 06, 2003)
Other than unlocking new cars, tracks, and race types, and the ability to post your best track times on Xbox Live, there’s obviously nothing else to do in Ford Racing 2. But it’s apparent that the game does serve one purpose. It’ll hold you off until better racers are released. Ford Racing 2 isn’t necessarily the worst racer ever put out, but if it wants to become a game that sets standards, it has a lot of work to do before that’ll happen.
XboxPGNx Media (Nov 16, 2003)
Should you get Ford Racing 2 instead of Gran Turismo 3? No, probably not. If you have already played through your racing games and want something else or just have $10 to spare, give this a try. I’d say rent it but you’re better off just purchasing the game.
WindowsGameStar (Germany) (Nov, 2003)

If you’re looking for an arcade-style auto racer, Ford Racing 2 offers enough challenge and variety to keep you driving for a while.

So does the game live up to the standard claimed? It is a good little title to own for the price which is £15.So no in my personal opinion it does not live up to the standard of the big guns but better than many other over priced Racing games which seem to be in abundance on the console format.
XboxGameSpot (Jan 20, 2004)
Graphical issues aside, the biggest problem that prevents Ford Racing 2 from being totally recommendable involves the amount of time you're able to spend with it. If you aren't a stranger to racing games, you'll be able to breeze through most races on your first try on the standard difficulty setting. However, there are so few races that you can finish the game in a dedicated afternoon sitting. The split-screen multiplayer can be fun for a few rounds with a competitive partner, and you can log onto Xbox Live from the game to compare lap times and other scores. Unfortunately, these don't do much to extend a relatively short-lived game. In the end, the game proves to be fun, especially for those with a soft spot in their hearts for classic American muscle cars.

Alle anderen sollten zu World Racing greifen.
PlayStation 2AceGamez (Nov 22, 2003)
Ford Racing 2 isn't a bad game, it looks good, it sounds okay, the physics, whilst not being particularly fun or realistic, work nicely with the speed of the game, but it lacks any punch. Every element of the game is bound to the next by one common aspect - a distinctly cardboard flavour. If you want an exciting arcade racer, go for Need for Speed: Underground, Midnight Club II or Burnout 2. If you want realism wait for Gran Turismo 4 but if you want a mediocre racing title with little to set it apart from the rest of the pack bar a heavy license, the choice is clear.

Ford Racing 2 is once again one of those games that focus themselves on one brand of cars, this time being Ford. These games aren’t of the utmost quality most of the time and are more or less a way to promote the real cars of such a brand. An original way to sell your product, you say ? Could be, but we gamers aren’t interested in such, for us all what counts is the games and not sales tactics. We’ll see whether these virtual cars are worthy to the name Ford.
WindowsGameSpot (Feb 10, 2004)
Far from "Best of Class," Ford Racing 2 is clearly a budget game that lacks much of the sophistication and depth of many of its closest rivals. Yes, it is relatively pretty and momentarily thrilling, yet it just doesn't have long-term appeal. Best suited as a pleasing diversion for first-time PC drivers or arcade racers needing a quick fix, it is much less attractive for the diehards among us.

PlayStation 2IGN (Nov 03, 2003)
When FR2 finally does get its groove on, it has a few moments of some mildly exciting racing, but these were far and few between. The arcadey physics and simple tracks make for a pretty bland experience. There are some interesting challenges with the racing line and the general game engine is decently executed with some arcadey physics and yet it still is not remotely enough. You're better off playing another racing title and imagining that they cars all have blue Ford logos on them.

PlayStation 2Armchair Empire, The (Jan 20, 2004)
Game play itself is another series of problems - this game has some of the worst driving physics I’ve ever seen in a racing game. Never in my life has a car fish-tailed uncontrollably at 45 miles an hour on dry road nor spun out at 60. These things just don’t happen in real life, so why should they happen in this game? Multiply this problem across the 30+ cars that are available in the game, all of which have slightly different driving characteristics and you are either going to find a car that you can drive or you are going to become increasingly agitated. Adding insult to injury is the frighteningly long load times for the booting of the disc at the end of each race and you have one of the slowest Playstation 2 games... disappointing in a recent release. All in all, Ford Racing 2 is a game that you’re going to want to kick the tires on before you pick up.
MacintoshAppleLinks.Com (Jan 31, 2005)
It's a simulator, a toy, a dream match designed for Ford lovers who yearn for their own Ford garage just to play with some of the staples of American automobile history; the single player experience consists of a bunch of contrived tests to induce you to play with each precious vehicle, and the multiplayer experience consists of getting another equally Ford-obsessed buddy of yours and testing them out against each other. If you're a Ford junkie, Ford Racing 2 is for you. Anyone else expecting a full driving simulator will be disappointed by the virtual lack of car customization options, and any casual racing game fans will be turned off by the lack of actual gameplay.
XboxGamesdog (Oct 23, 2003)
Unless you are an employee of the Ford Motor Company or have a passion for driving a Ford this game offers little. For those wanting realism, go and buy Gran Tursimo. At £20 however, Empire understand that this isn't going to be the bees' knees, but for those wanting to have some fun, there are plenty of games out there that offer a lot more than driving a Monedo through a series of check points- like Empire's own Starsky and Hutch for a start.
