It’s all too often that gamers simply pass on a title because it’s in the budget bin and doesn’t meet the usual $49.99 price tag. Thus, people typically assume that it wasn’t given its share of TLC by the developer. Well, if there’s one company that has mastered the art of delivering a quality experience at a reasonable price it’s 2K Games whose most recent offer of Major League Baseball 2K5 stunned gamers with its $19.99 price tag and quality gaming experience. Ford Racing 3 follows suit and offers a similarly enjoyable experience at an even lesser price point of $14.99, making it even more attractive, despite its few flaws.

The last five or six games (if it doesn't seem much, think again!) I've played weren't satisfying at all, not that surprising of course as they all were crappy. Now, even half an hour of Bombastic couldn't cheer me up anymore. So, I actually started to believe that videogames were no longer the inexhaustible spring of joy in my life. Then Ford Racing 3 ogled between the assignments. Other critics didn't seem to have a particular interest in this game, on the contrary even, so I thought it was everything or nothing: if this game doesn't cheer me up then I quit playing games, so will I? You'll have to read the review to find out or you can jump to the conclusion if you want to cheat.

Ford racing 3, comme son nom l'indique, est le 3ème opus de cette série éditée par Empire Interactive, qui a elle aussi édité un autre jeu de voiture, Flatout. Nous voici donc avec un jeu à la fois original et très orienté arcade. Original car il n'est pas cher : 19€ ce n'est pas grand chose en comparaison des jeux qui vendent aujourd'hui à 60€.

It's been a while since I've had a racing game zip across my path. Along comes 2k Games' Ford Racing 3. It's low-priced, and though I don't usually grade things based on their price, I do have to mention up front that this is a classic budget title - coming in at a retail price hovering around $15.00 U.S. Keeping that in mind, it's got about the right amount of bang for the buck.

2K Games has been pumping out a fairly steady stream of Ford-licensed budget console titles recently, the newest of which is Ford Racing 3. Featuring over 50 Ford models from the past, present and future, Ford Racing 3 runs the gamut of street, track and Off Road racing genres in a no-frills sort of way. Still, for a $15 title, Ford Racing 3 is a respectable release.

In unzähligen, meist fünf Strecken umfassenden Meisterschaften gilt es, durch Siege weitere Autos und Turniere frei zu schalten. Dabei bleiben die Aufgaben dank zahlreicher Rennmodi stets interessant. Neben Offroad- oder Knock-Out-Rennen gibt’s etwa das Ideallinie-Turnier. Hier besitzt der Wagen wie in Flatout einen Booster, der sich nur dann füllt, wenn Sie der optimalen Spur folgen. Das Spiel umfasst 26 abwechslungsreiche, aber sterile Rundkurse. Zudem lenken sich sämtliche Vehikel extrem schwammig. Ein Schadensmodell fehlt.

Ford Racing 3 is a game which will keep Ford racing fans happy, but not many other people. This has been done much better in other games, especially one by a certain Polyphony Digital. Perhaps a rental at best.

Avec Ford Racing 3, les développeurs ont adopté la méthode "on prend les mêmes et on recommence". En effet, cette suite ressemble beaucoup à l'opus précédent. On retrouve le même gameplay mou et sans saveur, une réalisation graphique et sonore très moyenne et les 3 nouveaux modes de jeux n'ont que très peu d'intérêt. Bref, le titre s'avère être tout simplement un petit jeu de course moyen noyé dans la masse.

You know, like fast cars, good handling, smart, or even somewhat decent, AI, and a little decoration. You know, some kind of presentation. Some small sense of style, or even just a little effort. These are all the basic things missing from Ford Racing 3, and I'm really just skimming the surface.

En dépit de son petit prix, Ford Racing 3 fait pâle figure face à des titres comme NFSU 2, Colin McRae 2005, ou encore Richard Burns Rally, pour ceux qui préfèrent la simulation. Bref, l'ensemble laisse un amer goût de déception qui donne envie de passer son chemin.
