Ford Racing

This is one of those racing games, which is as much fun for a die-hard racer as someone who just enjoys the challenge of racing itself. I have been playing for hours and have to admit that some of the fun is just trying out the different cars afforded. It really lends to different gameplay each time and that is something that all of us gamers are always on the lookout for. Racing just doesn’t get any better than this!

Oké, Ford Racing is niet de meest uitgebreide en spectaculaire racegame die ik ooit onder ogen gehad heb, maar dankzij het realisme, de lekkere besturing en het feit dat je steeds zonder al te veel schermen te doorlopen aan de start kunt verschijnen, maakt deze game toch wel een alleraardigste racer.

Dynamically realistic, this game puts you in the driver's seat of some great racing cars. The detail on these racing vehicles is breathtaking to say the least. Anyone who is a fan of motorsports will love this game, for nothing more than that! The graphics of the tracks you race on are so dead on that you might even begin to believe you are really there. When you crash one of these beauties, you are gonna see what a real racing crash can do to a car. The cars are all pretty equal when it comes to class so, if you get beat, you've only got yourself to blame. (Yeah RIGHT, all us drivers know it's NEVER our fault!). Although, once you get to the closed championships, the difference in cars is pretty marked. They really loaded the options on this game from preferences to configuration.

Gar nicht so schlecht... Fahrverhalten und Sound sind recht gut gelungen. Die Grafik ist zwar nicht unbedingt aufwendig, aber flüssig. In diesem Racer kann man die verschiedensten GT-Cup´s frei fahren und kann sich an vielen neuen Ford-Vehikeln erfreuen.

So in the end, how does Ford Racing add up? Allow me to break it down for you. As far as the concept goes, nothing new, aside from the restriction of vehicles to a single manufacturer, and that's not even a good idea [And it’s been done before: cf. Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed - EiC] . Gameplay is simply sub par, looking even worse when compared to the mammoths of the genre, much like my use of the word "mammoth" to describe racing titles. Although the cars look pretty stellar, the terrain is downright ugly. Sound is passable, but barely. The game is bug free. Overall, Ford Racing is probably not worth the time or the money.

Had dit spel meer functies meegekregen zoals een duidelijk onderscheid tussen arcade en simulatie, rijden tegen de tijd, tegen ghosts, weeropties (het is altijd zonnig in dit spel), uitgebreide controls enz... dan had dit spel een aanrader kunnen zijn. Maar door die tekortkomingen durf ik het echt niet aan te raden, Toca 2 is zijn leiderspositie nog steeds niet kwijt.

Probefahrten sind alle gleich? Nicht nur im Werbefernsehen zeigt uns Ford, wie falsch dieses Vorurteil sein kann. Auch Ford Racing demonstriert, dass diese Autos anders als andere sind. Rassige 60 Pferdestärken, verteilt auf nur 890 Kilogramm. Rasant beschleunigt der Bolide innerhalb von nur 16 Sekunden auf 100 km/h und schwankt beÄngstigend durch weite Kurven.

Ford Racing includes 12 different Ford cars, ranging from race-tuned showroom vehicles such as the F series, or the Mustang, to the pure race Taurus, the star of the NASCAR circuit and also the concept cars such as the GT90. The game features stunning hi-resolution 3D graphics, super hi-res textures and team colors.

De makers hebben blijkbaar helemaal niets geleerd uit hun fouten bij de eerste Ford Racing.

Een mooi promotiegeschenk en mooie, zij het veel te statische, beeldjes, maar geen, en ik herhaal, geen goed racegame.

Ford Racing has a concept that could have worked well--racing a brand that is familiar to most of us rather than one that is so exotic and expensive that none of us have ever experienced it--but in the end, it falls flat. What with no multiplayer competition, a limited number of racing modes, short tracks, poor collision implementation, undifferentiated handling and a lack of a sense of speed, there is still a lot defective here even if the American version is much better than the European one. This product contains no major innovative elements, and nothing that sets it off from countless other racing offerings in terms of uniquely thrilling challenges. So unless Ford is your favorite car, I would not step behind the wheel of this lemon.

The poor AI and the limitations presented by the sole Ford license in particular keep it from being a truly entertaining game overall.

Basically, Ford Racing is a good idea gone wrong. The cars are interesting, the tracks are somewhat challenging and fun, and the graphics are great--but somewhere along the line, Elite forgot about the driving. If the vehicle handling, dodgy control, and terrible AI could be addressed in a patch, Ford Racing could be a worthy purchase. As it stands, though, it fails to meet the standards set by so many other titles, and I really can't recommend it for anyone.

Was nützt die netteste Grafik, wenn der Rest nicht stimmt? Unfaire Computer-Gegner, die zügellos rempeln, dadurch aber nicht aus der Bahn geraten und auf langen Geraden dann wieder das Gaspedal nicht finden, trüben den Spielspaß. Hinzu kommt die Tatsache, dass sich in den unterschiedlichen Fahrzeugklassen außer der Höchstgeschwindigkeit nicht viel ändert und die Kurse trotz aller Vielfalt langweilig sind.

Wie sein Vorgänger Grand Touring leidet auch Ford Racing unter der merkwürdigen Steuerung. Egal ob Ford Ka, Escort oder GT 90, alle verhalten sich gleich seltsam und sind nur schwer auf der Strecke zu halten.

När detta är standardkvaliteten på spel som släpps till PlayStation börjar det onekligen att se mörkt ut för det talrika antalet PlayStation-ägare i vårt avlånga land. Mitt råd är därför att istället för att lägga pengar på nya produktioner, gräva i konsolens rika spelhistoria och införskaffa de godbitar som man missat under den grå kompisens långa guldålder.

A part un moteur graphique plaisant avec tous les détails poussés à donf', Ford Racing 2001 n'a strictement rien de plus que les titres de référence. C'est d'ailleurs le contraire, avec son faible intérêt tant ludique que technique (sûr que faire la course en Ford Ka, on a déjà vu plus excitant!). Sons pitoyables, sens du détail inexistant, c'est la deuxième fois que Ford se place dans des courses sans saveur et Empire Interactive ne sort pas grandi d'une telle production publicitaire.
