Formula 1 Championship Edition

The problems with this game are few, but hopefully they will be rectified in the next version. First of all, the accidents are more believable than before, but not nearly as impressive as the real thing. A few of Psygnosis1 usual visual effects would have made a great difference in how the collisions look and feel. Secondly, the game still suffers from minor pop-in. While this doesn1t usually effect gameplay, it occasionally does cause problems for a player's field of view. The link mode, which added a great deal to the two-player mode in the original, is unfortunately absent. Other than these minor problems, Formula 1 Championship Edition is a fine racer with enough extras to offer just about any racing fan a good time.

Ora aí está. Finalmente pego num jogo de corridas e sinto-me satisfeito. É puro, dá gozo, tem tudo lá dentro, joga-se com a normalidade própria do real e até parece mesmo que responde em tempo real às instrucções que vamos pressionando no controlpad.

Um ein Haar hätte Psygnosis dem großen Rivalen Grand Prix 2 den Titel abringen können. Da bei der Realitätsnähe aber sehr viele Einsparungen vorgenommen wurden, muß man Formel 1 jedoch eher mit actiongeladenen Rennspielen vergleichen - und da hat der Newcomer klar die Nase vorn.

This game should please the die-hard racing sim fans out there that love to customize every aspect of the racing. For people who prefer arcade-style racing, you will still like the Arcade mode, but probably not be too excited about the Grand Prix. I think this was a great idea to include both styles so you will appeal to a broader market. Although this is a good game, I think I will stick to the arcade-style racers.

Schon mutig von Psygnosis, mit der 97 im Titel erst im März des Folgejahres zu erscheinen. Doch keine Sorge, auch wenn Formel 1 mit Sicherheit keine Medaille für die tiefschürfendste Simulation erntet, kommen Freunde fix zugänglicher Arcade-Kost auf jeden Fall auf ihre Kosten. Einsteigen, sich wohlfühlen und heizen, was das Zeug hält, genau dafür ist dieses Spiel wie geschaffen. Der leicht aufgepeppte Grand Prix-Modus sorgt dann dafür, daß der Spaß auch nach längerer Spieldauer anhält

Formula 1 97 är en förbättring jämfört med originalet och för er som gillade det förra spelet är uppföljaren ett måste. Det hade dock varit bättre och billigare för spelarna om det fanns patchar till det gamla spelet.

Die reizvolle Kombination aus einfacher Steuerung und aufwendigem F1-Hintergrund macht den Flair von Formel 1 aus. Fast alle wichtigen Ingredienzen wurden in der richtigen Dosis beigemischt: Das Fahrzeug-Tuning ist ausreichend detailliert, und die wunderbar direkte Steuerung läßt schon nach ein paar Runden schnelle Zeiten zu. Eine Stop-and-go-Strafe setzt es dagegen für die Grafiker: An der Optik ging der Fortschritt fast spurlos vorüber; angesichts der starken Konkurrenz ist die Präsentation »nur« noch Oberklasse.

Formula 1 '97 is dus een aardig F1 spel dat, ondanks al de mogelijkheden, toch nog het meest aanleunt bij een Arcade racespel. Dat neemt niet weg dat ook de aanhangers van GP2 of F1 Racing plezier kunnen beleven met Formula 1 '97.

Anspruchsvolle Simulations-Puristen wenden sich besser UBI-Softs "F1 Racing" zu oder drehen bei "CART Precision Racing" ihre Runden. Wer eher eine Art "Need for Speed mit Formel 1" sucht und ein dickes 3Dfx-System hat, wird dem neuen Psygnosis-Rennspiel einiges abgewinnen können.
