There's not much by way of configuration options, just volume control and the option to run full screen or in a window
Here the player selects the game's difficulty setting before beginning. There are four settings - each with three maps
All player avatars are based on real pirates. There are no character stats, attributes or biography so presumably all characters are equal

A port has been reached
Through this screen the player can trade while the Shipyard is used t o upgrade the ship and Quest is where we can get hired to do various jobs
The shipyard screen where the vessel can be updated.
The sextant on the far right is unavailable here but it is needed to locate the Terror of the Deep which has to be defeated to win the game
There are treasure chests to be found on the map. some can be guarded
Eventually these chests will reappear and can be harvested again
The tutorial's instructions proir to a battle
Battling a Sea Cat
It's pistols vs a big flappy tail
All combat is played out this way

In between player turns the AI takes their turn
Occasionally they will engage in combat. Here Mary Killigrew is about to lose to Moby Gamer
It's possible to check on the status of the other players
Here Puerte Desma has one of the necessary navigation artifacts for sale
We have a quest! Not all ports have quests and they are not compulsory. This one can be deferred until there's a good time to trade between these two ports
Players can only move a certain distance in each move
This can be increased with the 'Fair Winds' bonus
This map shows a couple of monsters, the red stars indicate how tough they are. There's also a treasure chest in the lower left
The end of the game is nigh. An opponent has located the Terror of the Deep and is fighting it. Both have maximum value battle cards
